Wardrobe bed is the best solution for small rooms. Now this device is in great demand. After all, you can place it in a horizontal or vertical position (and thus save space in the room) just a wardrobe bed, the mechanism of which has several variations.
What is a wardrobe bed?
An unusual creation that can be folded and placed in a vertical or horizontal position is called the "bed-wardrobe". The mechanism of such furniture works smoothly and silently, which will not disturb the household. It is easy to operate and is equipped with all the necessary loops, hooks and elastic bands that you can grab onto to raise the bed. Such an invention has transformation mechanisms, which are the most important "organs" of furniture. After all, it is with their help that the bed quickly turns into an inconspicuous wall, and then the room space is freed up, for example, for children to play.
The wardrobe bed can be cut into the wall of the room or into a special niche. In addition, she has herthe body into which the bed itself is folded, that is, the mattress and all the components of the bed.
This is an indispensable solution for small spaces or rooms. It folds easily, even a child can handle it. Therefore, after sleep, you can immediately lift it or push it along with pillows and a blanket, and return it to its previous position immediately before bedtime. The mattress, pillows and duvet are securely fastened with the included straps so they won't fall off when raised and stay in place when lowered.
For the first time such a miracle was created by William Lawrence Murphy, so at first he had the name "Murphy's bed". Only later, when production began to develop and expand, did the “Murphy bed” begin to be called by the usual name for us “wardrobe-bed”, or “lifting bed”.
What are wardrobe beds?
They come in different types. Here is the list:
- vertical flip;
- with horizontal opening;
- retractable;
- embedded;
- double;
- single;
- half-sleeping;
- with gas-lift mechanism;
- with swivel wheels.
This is not the whole list. Depending on what transformation mechanisms are on the product, the list can be continued.
However, the choice of each depends on the preferences, financial capabilities and footage of the room in which the bed-wardrobe will be located. The mechanism is selected according to the principle of operation and the location of the furniture inroom.
Mechanisms of transformation
Let's take a look at the mechanism of the MLA 108.1, MLA 108.2 and MLA 108.4 series wardrobe-bed.
They differ in that the first has a maximum dynamic load of 50, the second has 70, and the third has 100 kg. The difference depends on whether the wardrobe bed is single, one and a half or double.
The principle of action lies in the compression force of the spring, which is made of stainless steel hardened and fixed to the lifting rods of the fittings. Due to the special treatment of steel, the service life of the wardrobe bed is about 50 years. The lifting force depends on the number of springs with which it is equipped. Such mechanisms most often have a lifting bed-wardrobe, but it can also be with a load on the gas-lift mechanism.
The basis of the wardrobe bed on the gas lift is that the load goes on it, thereby compensating for the weight of the base, which should recline. Just like the mechanisms above, products with a gas lift differ in load and are selected depending on the weight of the lifting base of the bed.
There are swivel legs specifically for retractable horizontal or vertical wardrobe beds. They swivel or slide out 90oand are on the back of the wardrobe bed.
Where and how can I put a pull-out or folding bed?
Often the sleeping place occupies the largest area of the room, so the wardrobe bed comes to the rescue. The mechanism is designed so that during the day the object can be "hidden" as if it werewas not at this place.
Mostly in one-room or multi-room, but small-sized apartments, a wardrobe-bed is purchased. The children's room can also be equipped with such furniture, because, as a rule, children need a lot of space to play. In one-room apartments, in order not to clutter up the place with a sofa, transforming beds are also often installed. Buyers fully appreciated the advantages of this type of furniture.
The upright bed can be bought separately and then placed in a compartment or wardrobe with doors, which can be custom made, or you can choose it yourself. Such furniture in the apartment will become a reliable friend for many years.
Folding wardrobe bed (transformer) can have a reverse design, for example, during the day, when folded, it will turn into a mirror or a wardrobe with hinged doors. It makes her look prettier. Many furniture manufacturing firms carry out orders for individual projects: the same color as the rest of the interior, with or without LED lighting.
The body of the bed must be attached to a concrete or brick wall. Mounting on drywall is not practiced due to the weight of the product and the fragility of the base.
In the room or in the living room there may be a double folding wardrobe-bed or several single beds for a night's rest, built into one wardrobe or wall. Bed accessories can be with shelves or with a table, as well as with any other details.
Wardrobe bed in the nurseryroom
Children's wardrobe-bed has a slightly different design. It is much lighter and easier to transform. This is done so that the child himself can lift / push the bed-wardrobe. The mechanism of a children's model is most often a gas lift, because it is safer than a spring. A folding bed for children is also called a loft bed because it can either be on top (there is a cabinet with shelves and a desk at the bottom) or slide down and there is a small playground or table on top.
Bed - what could be better?
Currently, almost every small apartment has such a marvel of engineering as a transforming bed. After all, it is thanks to technological fittings that the housing problem is solved: “How to choose furniture so that there is as much space as possible for a comfortable stay?” Now such a bed can be purchased in stores and made to order.
