Radish is one of the fastest growing crops among other vegetables. Radish cultivation is carried out both in open ground and under a film. During the season, several crops are obtained from one bed. Cultivation is a very simple matter, as the plant is resistant to cold. However, the best temperature for vegetable development is 20 degrees.
Radishes are grown everywhere, but many gardeners do not always grow standard root crops. The culture often blooms, goes to the arrow, which is why it lacks root crops. This is due to excessive crop density, prolonged low temperatures, and also due to the dryness of the soil.
You need well-drained fertile soil to plant seeds and get a rich harvest. It is unacceptable to make fresh manure before planting. This will lead to the formation of an extensive green mass. Growing radishes in spring is done in sunny areas, and summer plantings are best done in slightly shaded places.
The beds for the plant can be made already in mid-April. According to the technology, the soil is watered with hot water and dug up with a bayonet shovel to the full depth. After that, peat, compost or humus is added (2-3 kilos persquare meter). From mineral fertilizers, you should take a tablespoon of nitrophoska. When all the useful substances are in the soil, the ridge again needs to be dug up with a pitchfork, leveled and compacted a little.
Growing radishes is carried out in grooves two centimeters deep, the distance between rows should be 10 cm. After watering the soil with warm water, you can start sowing.
For better yields, large seeds with good germination are selected. They can be pre-soaked for half a day or thrown into the rows dry. In the early stages, it is better to grow radishes in a greenhouse.
5 days after germination of seedlings, they should be thinned out, deformed weak shoots should be removed, leaving only beautiful, he althy ones, at a distance of four cm from one another. After that, the root crop is watered from a watering can - 2 liters of water per meter of area. After some time, when the ridge is weathered, a slight loosening and hilling of plants to cotyledon leaves is performed between the rows.
To get a he althy radish, cultivation must be combined with the application of pesticides. To combat fleas of cruciferous plants, before hilling and loosening, ground red pepper or dry mustard (1 teaspoon per m2) should be poured into the aisles. At the initial stage, it is necessary to water frequently, in small doses of 2-3 liters. During the period of pouring root crops, moisture is reduced so that one tops do not grow.
You can harvest after 25days after landing. It is not recommended to be late in this case, because the plant will go into the arrow, and the root crops will become rough. Therefore, radishes must be freed from tops in a timely manner and packaged in plastic bags of two kilograms. You need to store the crop in a cool place.
