However, it happens that bumps and spots appear through fresh canvases - a legacy of previous repairs. This happens if the walls were not properly prepared and the old wallpaper was not completely removed. That is why the question of effective means to help avoid such problems becomes very important.
Do you need a special wallpaper remover?
The apartment has old paper wallpapers, which have already moved away from the walls from the side of the seams. Most likely, a slight effort will be enough for the entire panel to be removed. The most "stubborn" areas will be removed if you spray them with water from a spray bottle and wait for half an hour. But there are situations when a special tool for removing wallpaper is needed. For example, in new apartments or where repairs were made not so long ago, using modern adhesives and wallpaper with a waterproof top layer, it will not be so easy to prepare the walls.

If water does not effectively remove the wallpaper, you can try adding a little dishwashing detergent to it. Sometimes this helps, but if not, you will have to purchase a specialized tool. For example, the Metilan wallpaper remover is used as follows: first, it is necessary to protect any surfaces that cannot be processed from contact with the liquid: wooden skirting boards, doors, window frames, etc. Then the concentrate is diluted with water in accordance with the table. The solution is applied with any tool - from a roller or brush to a spray gun - on the top layer of wallpaper, and after 5-10 minutes the glue dissolves, the finishing material is removed from the wall with a spatula. The use of other means differs only in minor details. The process of perforating the top layer of the coating will speed up the process, but this only applies to non-woven or multilayer wallpaper, the rest will be removed without additional action on your part.
Is it worth it?
Is it an expensive pleasure - a wallpaper remover? The price of the package is comparable to the cost of a pack of dry glue. You can decide that this is an extra waste, but to save time and effort, the purchase of a special tool is fully justified. As you know, the mechanical removal of wallpaper breaks the layer of plaster underneath, which means that the cleaned wall will have to be puttyed and leveled again before re-pasting. It is unlikely that labor and materials will cost less than an assistant solution, which, by the way, is consumed in very small quantities. A bottle of the same "Methylan" is enough for 200 square meters of surface.
