Types of decorative plaster:

  1. Polymer or acrylic - vapor-tight, frost-resistant and plastic. Synthetic resins are used in its production. Such plastering of the facade of the house, the photo of which can be seen below, is quite common.
  2. Mineral or lime - the cheapest type of plaster. It is not susceptible to the harmful effects of fungus or mold. The basis of the mixture is cement and additional additives that change the absorbent qualities of the material.
  3. Silicate. Such plaster is vapor-tight, durable and antistatic. In its production, liquid fractions of potassium glass are used. It is created on the basis of polymer compounds.

Advantages of plaster forfacade

The plaster applied to the facade provides air circulation, protects against moisture and prevents the formation of fungus. Depending on the filler, decorative plasters can also perform a heat and sound insulation function. Facade plaster allows, if necessary, to change the color and texture of the finish. You can show your imagination and choose from various design options. The plaster is applied to the facade using a certain technology and allows you to get different surfaces.

Conditions for applying plaster

In order for the facade to be finished with high quality, certain conditions must be met. First of all, you need to prepare the surface, or rather, dismantle the old plaster, repair all the cracks, then clean the wall of dust and thoroughly moisten it. The next step is to prepare the mixture according to the instructions on the package. Only then should the finished mixture be applied.

Plaster application technology

Technology of facade plastering involves the fulfillment of certain conditions. These repairs should not be applied to a newly erected wall due to the fact that the plaster may crack as the building shrinks. Remember that the concrete surface and the gypsum mortar will react, and the plaster will swell and fall off over time. In addition, gypsum, having penetrated the wall, will simply destroy it. In order to prevent this, a lime mortar with a thickness of at least 4 mm must be applied to the wall. The thickness of the plaster layer applied foronce, should not exceed 2-3 cm. If it is necessary to apply a thick layer, this should be done in several stages with an interval of 2-3 days. Grouting of the finished surface can be started a few hours after applying the plaster, when the solution has not yet completely solidified. If you start early, the mortar will fall off in layers from the wall, if it’s too late, the plaster will be too hard, there will be bumps and depressions on the wall and you won’t be able to move the mass from one place to another and thereby level the wall.

The plaster chosen for the facade should not only meet the preferences of the owners, but also be environmentally friendly, safe for humans.
