Carpets were still with our ancestors and were considered a piece of art, because it took a lot of time, patience and effort to make them. Do not despair when remembering painstaking and long work, because you can make a carpet yourself. Undoubtedly, it will take a lot of time, but the result will justify itself.
For your own carpet weaving you will need:
- 4 meter piece of black fabric (ideally black cloth should be used);
- four boards with parameters 2x2x6, on the basis of which the frame will be created;
- aluminum nails;
- white sheets 2 pieces, not new can be used;
- ruler and pencil;
- hammer.
Before we make a carpet with our own hands, we need to build a kind of wooden loom. The dimensions of the boards should be selected in accordance with the dimensions of the carpet that you plan to weave. To avoid the precariousness of our design, it is necessary to score ona pair of nails at each intersection of planks.
Cut a small strip from the sheet as follows: before reaching the edge, turn in the opposite direction and cut the entire sheet in this way. This method will avoid multiple knots. Now our base fabric is ready and we can proceed. When our product is ready, it can be used as a nursery rug.
You need to tie a loose plan knot on our first strip and tie it to the first left nail from the bottom, then to the top left and continue in this spirit until the base is completed. Tear the second sheet into strips, from which remove protruding threads so that they do not interfere and spoil the aesthetic appearance while you make the carpet with your own hands. Now everything is the same, only with black cloth.
Take the first strip we started with, tie a knot and weave it once on the outside and another time on the inside until you reach the end. Having reached the opposite edge, the strip should be fixed and set off on the way back, observing the sequence of external and internal stretching of the fabric. After that, both strips must be compacted to avoid ugly holes, and continue in the same spirit until the end of the carpet.
If you wanted to make a rug not from ordinary matter, but from more expensive and beautiful, then the principle remains the same. For example, a silk carpet will look much richer than a regular one.
