When planning the design of the room, you want every detail to be in its place: without pictures it will be empty on the walls, the window sills will seem bare without flowers, and let there be funny figures on the bookshelves. But what to put on the floor, rug or carpet? How is a carpet different from a carpet? What will look more spectacular, and what will hit the budget less?
You will find the answer in this article.
What can be considered a carpet?
Carpet is a product that is a one-sided fabric with a medium or long pile. For the manufacture of the carpet, natural materials or synthetics that are pleasant to the touch can be used.
Carpets are used for both flooring and wall decoration. They are characterized by bright and interesting patterns, so they are suitable for any interior.
History of carpet weaving
Earlier, carpets were woven by hand: on wooden framesstrung warp threads made of natural material. Then, yarn was wrapped around two adjacent threads, tying it into a knot. Each finished row was secured with a transverse thread so that the product would not fall apart into strips at the end of the work. The canvas was trimmed with a mallet, then the unnecessary pile was cut off.
And so, knot by knot, a unique pattern gradually formed. Just imagine: on a small area of carpet the size of a palm, there could be more than a thousand individual knots so that the pile was not too rare! So a large carpet might be made up of millions of tiny knots, each knotted by hand.
Such carpets are created for a very long time. Even under the condition that experienced craftsmen work on the product, the speed of weaving will not change much: a two-meter carpet can take about six months of daily work. And after all, such carpets are still bought and are in great demand!
A simpler way of weaving involves the use of a jacquard machine, which appeared in the nineteenth century. It is about her that they think when they talk about making carpets by hand. This machine can be considered the world's first programmed mechanism. The operator's job is to monitor the progress of the shuttle and thread the threads. Up to thirty centimeters of carpet were produced on this machine during daylight hours.
Modern carpet factories are overgrown jacquard machines. They produce from ten carpets a day, it all depends solely on the size of the production.
What is a palace
Sowhat is a carpet, what is the difference from a carpet? In principle, we can assume that this is a "bald" carpet. The carpet does not have the long pile characteristic of carpets.
Today the most popular rugs are produced in:
- Ukraine;
- Azerbaijan;
- India.
The rugs are always long, but not very wide. Such paths are used during various ceremonies: weddings, awards, meetings of long-awaited and high-ranking persons. They are strewn with stairs in various state institutions: courts, tax offices, and so on.

And what is the difference between a carpet and a carpet in terms of creation?
The carpets are made using special machines or by hand. As with carpets, handicrafts are much more valued, both in terms of value and popularity. With due diligence on sale, you can find products that are created by the combined method.
The lack of pile is due to the fact that the production is made by the loop method, which distinguishes the carpet from the carpet. What is good about these products: they are double-sided! And this means that you can put the carpet on either side, and when it gets worn out, just turn it over. Thanks to the loops, the rugs are extremely durable, so you will be trampling them for a very long time.
These products can be both plain and patterned. Traditionally, they have calm dark colors. This does not mean that you cannot find something bright for yourinterior.
Differences between a carpet and a carpet
When carrying out repairs and selecting flooring, the question often arises: so what to choose? Palace or carpet? And what is the difference between a carpet and a rug?
- First of all, carpets do not have their own pile, or it is so minimal that it is practically not felt. Such "bald spots" of the carpet may seem unpleasant to someone to the touch, while others, on the contrary, will choose this flooring because of the tactile sensations.
- You can also understand the difference between a carpet and a carpet from the photo. Carpets can be either round or triangular, but rugs are traditionally made only in a rectangular shape. Their width usually does not exceed one hundred centimeters, while the length can be tens of meters. The famous red carpet is actually a long red carpet!
- Carpets are more colorful because they are used not only to cover the floor, but also to decorate the walls. The carpets in terms of colors are calmer, because they are aimed not at shocking, but at the practicality of use.
- An important difference between a carpet and a carpet is that the carpet slides. To prevent this from happening, it must be well stretched and glued. Carpets, due to their heavy weight, do not form folds and do not move.
What to choose: carpet or rug?
If you need to decorate a room, then you should buy a bright and interesting carpet. You can not only throw it on the floor, but also hang it on the wall. In this case, by the way, the carpetperforms not only an interior function, but also muffles sounds from an adjacent room.
Are your walls so thin that they don't retain heat? Carpet made from natural materials can help with this. Its pile will act as a room garment, keeping the heat in. The peoples of the Far North even insulate their yurts with handmade carpets.
In the event that you just want to walk on warm and pleasant material, the carpet will fully satisfy your needs. It is cheaper than a carpet and is characterized by calmer colors. Also look out for carpet: it doesn't come in a specific size and comes in rolls, so you can cover your entire room from wall to wall with it.
One more tip: carefully inspect the surface you want to put the coating on. The palace will not hide its flaws and irregularities, any small bump will seem huge under it.
