A quality speaker system is the dream of every music lover. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to buy it in a store. But do not despair: everyone can make speakers with their own hands!
What you need for work
Surely every radio amateur has a few old speakers in stock that can be adapted to the job. For the body, you can take the usual fiberboard, but if you belong to the aesthetes, it is better to use wood.
Material preparation
If you have ever de alt with fibreboard, you are well aware that with a long state of their end parts are often chipped. These places must be cut. All traces of dirt must be carefully removed from the surface of the plates.
Markup
Since there are so many opinions about what size speakers should be, with your own hands you can easily cut blanks to the size you need. We mark the holes for the speakers in advance, using ordinary pencils for this.
The material must be “cut” with a hacksaw or a circular saw withthe smallest possible teeth, avoiding chips and irregularities in the saw cut. In addition, it is better to immediately mark the places for screwing screws. For their seats, it is required to make holes with a thin drill, and for the cap, chamfer with a thicker tool. So you protect yourself from splitting the material.
On the back wall, do not forget to make a hole for the wire output.
Assembly
The more beautiful the speakers will be with your own hands, the more carefully you assemble them. Try to screw the screws carefully, avoiding distortions and their exit from the material. After assembling a three-sided "box" resembling the letter "P" in shape, carefully check it for cracks and crevices.
If there are any, they can be covered with sawdust from the same fiberboard mixed with PVA glue. When making speakers with your own hands, do not forget to cut a hole for the speaker. You need to do this with a jigsaw, and trying to perform this operation as carefully as possible!
After that, you can mount the speaker. You can use glue for this purpose, but for this you need to choose the most reliable composition. If you are not sure, it is better to screw them on with small self-tapping screws.
Amplifier
The question of the amplifier used is difficult to disclose without knowing your preferences and capabilities. You can purchase some ready-made model, or you can assemble it yourself, using the same TDA1558Q circuit as the basis. She is good in that it turns out prettyhigh-quality amplifier, made by hand and delivering 22 watts per channel. For home use, this will be enough.
Appearance
Of course, your work (especially with a lack of experience) may not look very attractive, but everything can be fixed with the appropriate design. There are several options here: upholstered with fabric, painted or veneered. We recommend using the last option by gluing the tree with glue.
It is better to use some mesh material to protect and decorate the speakers. You can also make your own speaker stands. Painted metal is most often used for mounting.
