The tradition of decorating a home with clay pots of flowers dates back to time immemorial. However, after a few years, such dishes, as a rule, began to lose their appearance, and therefore the cache-pot was invented. And although there is no shortage of items in stores today, with which you can decorate the interior, hand-made products, including “covers” made from various materials for flower pots, are very popular.
What is a planter
Any container in which you can fill the ground and plant indoor plants should have a drainage hole. But the classic planter is a decorative vessel for a flower pot, in which such a device for removing excess moisture is not provided. There are a variety of options for dishes designed for this purpose: from chic flowerpots made of expensive porcelain to home-made wooden boxes or containers made of synthetic materials with a futuristic design.
High flower pot
Recently, there has been a tendency to put trees in large tubs or tall pots at the door or in the lobby of a private house, restaurant, hotel. In such cases, you will also need beautiful tall planters in the style of the interior design of the room in which they are supposed to be placed. Rattan options are especially popular - a material that is dried rattan stems, which is widely used in Southeast Asia for making furniture. And a very good choice is a tall clay flower pot designed for outdoor installation. As already mentioned, such items can be made independently, and there are many ways to make such crafts. For example, a spacious chest with a hinged lid can be adapted to accommodate several flower pots at once, turning it into a very original planter for a garden or terrace. A large watering can will also work, just cut a bigger hole in the top.

Flowers in pots are used to decorate a variety of rooms. Depending on the place where they want to place a houseplant, a hanging or table planter can be chosen. For example, the version resembling a nest, which is shown in the photo, will look very original.
As for desktop or floor “covers” for flower pots, such planters are most oftenelegant clay pot. In addition, with a little imagination, you can make such elements of interior decor and garden plot yourself. For example, bright rubber boots that have become fashionable in recent years, from which your kids and the children of your loved ones have grown, can be laid out on shelves and pots inserted into them. Another original version of a window sill planter can be made from tree branches. To do this, you just need to cut branches with a diameter of about 1.5-2 cm into segments a little longer than the height of the pot, surround the pot with them around the perimeter and tie them in two places with twine or ribbon.
And you can also make a very simple, but original planter with a long rope of bright color. To do this, the surface of the pot must be smeared with some kind of glue (for example, “Moment”). Then, starting from the top edge, you need to wind the rope so that the coils lie very tightly and hide the dishes in which the plant is planted.
Wicker pots
Among the traditional types of needlework, various kinds of weaving techniques occupy a special place. They can also be used to make pots. For example, country-style models crocheted from multi-colored thick yarn look very original. However, the most beautiful flower pots are macrame options. Probably, many people want to quickly become the authors of openwork masterpieces. However, first you need to learn how to weave a planter of the simplest design.
Simple rope planter
If you are just taking the first stepsin mastering the technique of macrame, then try to weave a simple hanging cover for a flower pot from ropes. Such a planter is a kind of pendant, for the manufacture of which only the simplest knots are used. To work, you will need a metal ring with a diameter of 12-15 cm and 42 m of thick rope.
Procedure:
- Cut 3 pieces of rope 4 and 10 meters long.
- All segments are bent in half and fixed on the ring as shown in the figure.
- In this case, 2 ends of long ropes (10-meter) and 2 ends of short ones should alternate. Thus, as a result, we have 12 “tails” hanging from the ring.
- With the help of 2 extreme ropes weave 4-5 flat knots. In this case, the ends of the rest are used as middle threads.
- Divide all the ropes into 3 groups so that each has 2 short and 2 long.
- In each of the 3 groups, flat knots are woven with long ends (as in the figure), 12 in each.
- They take 2 right ropes from one group and 2 left ones from the neighboring one, which is next to the right. They make 1 flat knot from them at a distance of 15 cm from the last woven ones. This operation is repeated 3 times.
- Retreat from these 3 knots to a distance of 15 cm. Gather all the ropes together. Tie in one big knot.
- Leave 30 cm to form a tassel, and the remaining ends of the ropescut off.
