Connecting gas boilers is quite difficult to do on your own. Firstly, these types of equipment are classified as high-tech and dangerous devices. Secondly, there are several connection options, the type and installation steps of which depend on individual conditions and the type of fixture.

Scheme for connecting a gas boiler with one circuit

Single-section unit is equipped with one heat exchanger used to heat water in one circuit compartment. Until recently, such equipment was used only for heating houses, now they are successfully working to provide hot water by adding an indirect heating storage tank to the system.

Depending on the dimensions and power output, "single-circuit" units are available in a floor or wall configuration. The first options are heavier and more powerful than double-circuit analogues, they are used for heating large cottages and houses, as well as supplying residents with hot water. To the features of connecting suchdevices include the fact that only a pair of pipes with a coolant is allowed to be connected to it. It is fed through one element for heating, and through the other pipe it comes out already warm. In this embodiment, the liquid circulates in the heating system, returning to the tank for reheating. To relieve excess pressure, an expansion tank and a safety valve are mounted in the structure.

Connection to indirect boiler

The simplest scheme for connecting a gas boiler to an indirect heating storage tank is to use a three-way valve. In this case, the boiler is a hermetic thermal container that serves to store water supplies, which must be heated. Inside the accumulator there is a heat exchanger in the form of a spiral, through which hot liquid passes.

In this scheme, the priority is to provide hot water. After the sensor is triggered on the boiler, a three-mode valve comes into operation, after which the heated carrier is fed into the accumulator. There, the heat is transferred to the water, after which it returns back to be reheated. The circulation will continue until the water in the boiler is heated to the required temperature. Then the valve is activated, the coolant switches to heating mode until the water in the storage cools down again.

While the water is heated, the heat carrier is not transported through the heating pipes. The heating time of the drive depends directly on its volume. For example, a 200 liter tank heats up in six hours, while heating water takes aboutfifty minutes. This does not critically affect the internal climate of the dwelling, for such a period of time the house does not have time to cool down.

With two circuits

The specified unit differs from the single-circuit analogue by the presence of two heat exchangers. The main one heats the liquid for heating, the second element provides hot water supply. Such a design is usually an automated boiler room, and the main elements are mounted on the wall.

What is the connection diagram for a gas boiler with two circuits? Automation of such a boiler is built-in. In standard mode, the coolant heated in the main circuit enters the heating system, and after cooling it is fed back. According to this scheme, the "boiler-heating-boiler" mode operates. When a hot water faucet is opened, cold water flows through another pipe for heating. A three-way valve automatically transfers the carrier to an additional heat exchanger, the water for hot water is heated until the tap is turned off. After that, the heating mode is switched on again.

Practice shows that a boiler with two circuits is not able to guarantee hot water supply in a large volume. A single source is supplied, such as a kitchen or shower. In this case, the water will be moderately warm. This is due to the fact that the unit simply does not have time to heat the liquid in the proper amount. Such equipment is suitable for small families, otherwise a boiler connection is required.

Double-circuit boiler and storage

Proper connection of wallgas heating boilers to an indirect heating boiler tank according to the standard scheme makes it possible to heat water directly in the tank. In this case, the liquid supply to the additional circuit will circulate in a vicious circle. This nuance makes it possible to extend the working life of the boiler, which is negatively affected by tap water.

The heat exchanger for hot water wears out and fails in 1-2 years. For this reason, the operation of a purified coolant is an economical option. It is quite possible to connect gas boilers with two circuits to a standard electric storage boiler. In this case, water will flow into the boiler, and when the volume decreases to a critical level, the automation will work, the tank is filled with water from the boiler, the operating temperature is maintained using a heating element.

Heating Arrangement

Connecting heating to a gas boiler should begin by studying the instructions. This is necessary to determine the configuration of pipes and outlets. If the system has been used before and you just need to replace the boiler, the structure is freed from the coolant and washed several times. This will clean the walls of the elements from s alts and deposits that will clog the elements of the heat exchanger.

The working agent in the heating unit can be water or antifreeze. In the second case, you need to make sure that the unit is designed to work with this type of liquid. Some manufacturers give recommendations on what type of antifreeze to use, some make it themselves. If the house is lived all year round,better to use water. Antifreeze has a number of disadvantages:

  • low heat capacity;
  • increased rate of thermal expansion;
  • significant viscosity;
  • requires high capacity pump and boiler.

In favor of water is the fact that on modern models you can set the safety mode. The liquid, having reached a temperature of +5 degrees, begins to heat up automatically.

Connection

To connect gas heating boilers, the following items will be required:

  • ball valve;
  • primary filter;
  • circulating pump, if necessary;
  • American connector.

The circulation pump is always mounted on the "return". Ball valves serve to facilitate the disconnection of the system from the unit without draining the coolant, they allow you to quickly remove the filter for preventive purposes and cleaning. The filter is necessary to protect the heat exchanger from s alts and other deposits. It is installed in front of the boiler as horizontally as possible, while the catcher should look down. The direction of fluid flow must match the corresponding arrow on the element body.

When connecting gas boilers, a pipe with a heated carrier should be connected to the boiler nozzle. For this purpose, an American-type threaded connection and shut-off valves in the form of a ball valve are used. On the inlets and outlets, faucets are mounted to drain the refrigerantsummer or when repairs are needed.

Aggregation of a double-circuit boiler with hot water supply

Connecting a gas boiler to the system will require mandatory elements:

  • coarse fine filter or magnetic equivalent;
  • ball valves;
  • American threaded quick coupling.

To protect the heat exchanger from scale and extend its service life, a magnetic filter and an analogue of coarse cleaning are mounted on the inlet pipe with cold water. If one of the elements is already installed in front of the water meter, it does not make sense to install it again. The outlet element with hot water is connected using a ball valve to a branch pipe with a check valve. All connecting points are treated with sealed paste.

Electrical connection

Connecting floor gas boilers to the mains can be done in two ways. In the first option, a cable with a plug for an outlet is used, in the second case, a three-core insulated wire. Regardless of the method, it is necessary to connect the unit through an autonomous circuit breaker directly to the shield, while not forgetting about grounding. Not superfluous in the design will be stabilizing elements and backup power supplies. A circuit breaker is mounted near the boiler for quick and safe shutdown.

Remember that it is forbidden to ground the boiler on heating parts or gas pipelines. The quality of work in this direction is due to the arrangement of a special or spotgrounding. Ground loop resistance should not exceed 10 ohms. This is due to the absence of repeated grounding elements on most power line poles.

Chimney connection

The scheme for connecting a gas boiler to a chimney depends on what type of hood is used: coaxial or conventional. Parapet versions do not need it at all. These requirements are also indicated in the instructions for the unit. In many kits, the chimney is supplied with the boiler, it only needs to be installed correctly.

Please note that the diameter of the exhaust element must match or be slightly larger than the same size of the outlet. Usually this indicator depends on the power of the unit. Conventional modifications are displayed upwards, rising above the roof ridge by 500 millimeters. They can be mounted in the wall, inside the home or behind the wall. No more than three bends are allowed throughout the entire section.

The first section of the pipe connection of the boiler with the chimney - no more than 250 mm. The element must have an inspection hole for preventive cleaning. For models with conventional chimneys and an open combustion chamber, a significant air supply is required, which is provided using a separate supply unit or an open window.

Instructions for connecting gas boilers states that the chimney must be made of roofing sheet or similar material that is not affected by acids. The same rule applies to joints, turns and elbows. It is forbidden to connect the boiler and the main chimney with corrugations or brickdesigns. The fact is that during the combustion process, vaporous masses saturated with active acids are produced, which condense, precipitate, corroding the walls of the outlet element.

The coaxial chimney is installed in a horizontal position, led directly into the wall. This design is a pipe placed in another, differing in diameter. Through the inner part, the vapors are removed from the main unit, and through the outer part, air is supplied to the combustion chamber. This feature makes it possible to actively heat the air and increase the efficiency of the system.

When connecting a gas boiler with your own hands, keep in mind that the coaxial chimney must move away from the wall by at least 500 millimeters. When installing a conventional boiler, the outlet pipe is placed with a slight slope towards the street. This will allow the condensate to drain into a special siphon discharged into the sewer. As a rule, all the nuances of installation are prescribed in the instruction manual. The maximum length of the coaxial element is 3-5 meters, the smaller it is, the more bends and turns in the design.

Introduction of thermostat

The thermostat is connected to the boiler to ensure the efficiency of the system. The device is mounted in the most remote room or in a place that serves as a guideline for determining the temperature norm. The specified device will inform the automation of the unit about a critical drop in temperature, after which the coolant automatically heats up until the thermostat signals thatthat the desired temperature has been reached.

When connecting gas boilers in private homes, the specified equipment is mounted on the inner wall of the dwelling at a distance of 1.5 meters from the floor in height. The device must not be exposed to extraneous heat sources, direct sunlight, drafts and vibrational forces. On the latest models of boilers, special terminals are provided, on which the contacts are closed, which indicates the need to send a signal to heat the coolant. For normal operation of the thermostat, the fixing jumper is removed, and then the device is connected using a two-wire wire with a cross section of 0.75 square meters. mm.

Result

To connect the boiler to a heating or hot water supply system, you need to contact a specialist. Independent actions lead not only to security violations, but also fines for unauthorized connection. If you still decide to take a chance, remember that you need to supply gas only through a corrugated pipe made of stainless steel or steel, rubber hoses are absolutely inappropriate here.
