All the so-called Khrushchevs look like twins, and they can hardly be called the most comfortable apartments. Low ceilings, a small area with a walk-through room and a combined bathroom - these are the characteristic features of such architecture. An absolutely inconvenient space in terms of design, however, it can also be turned into a functional, stylish, cozy, and most importantly, beautiful and comfortable nest.
So, we present the best design projects for two-room apartments (Khrushchev) with the best ideas and options for changing, increasing and improving the entire area.
Corridor
The first desire that arises at the sight of Khrushchev with a standard area of 43-44 m² is to demolish the old non-load-bearing walls and re-equip the space. Fortunately, there are few load-bearing beams in such apartments, so we decide this option and are very fond of designers.
Most often, the design project of a two-room Khrushchev begins with a corridor, it is he who undergoes the first reconstruction. Since it is very small and narrow and carries almost nono functionality for the owners (even a built-in closet is rather difficult to put here), due to it you can expand the space of the kitchen and bathroom by changing the location of the walls and leaving only a small visible area for shoes and a couch or pouffe.
Bathroom
The combined bathroom has a slight advantage, because we expanded it by re-equipping the corridor, and now you can put a large corner bath here, and with a thin screen, for example, to fence off the toilet. To save space, you can do without a washbasin.
Kitchen
The original design of two-room Khrushchev 44 sq. m does not make it possible to move the kitchen area to another place. But it can be visually expanded by removing the wall connecting the room. In the vacated space, it is convenient to organize a small dining area and put a table with chairs or a narrow bar counter that can fit 2 people.
As for furniture, which, of course, is quite a lot for such a small area, it is better to give preference to a corner kitchen with built-in appliances (washing machine and refrigerator), using the wall adjacent to the bathroom.
Living room
The design of a two-room Khrushchev with a walk-through room has several convenient variations, the choice of which depends on who lives in the apartment. If it's a single person or a couple, it may be worth considering tearing down the partitions between the rooms and converting them into one large studio apartment.
When such a huge and unobstructed space opens up, it will be quite easy to select several convenient functional areas with screens, plasterboard or decorative partitions or simply the arrangement of furniture - a dining room with a large dining table, a living room with a corner sofa and a coffee table, a large bed with bedside tables, a small workplace.
If the owners do not want to part with the second room, or, for example, a separate children's room is needed, then the design of a two-room Khrushchev will look like this: a walk-through living room with a folding sofa and a dining area (or coffee table) and a bedroom (children's).
Bedroom
Of course, the layout of the second room will allow you to place in it only the most necessary minimum of furniture - a small built-in wardrobe, a bed, a bedside table and a small table for toiletries or a laptop. For compact storage, you can use shelves or built-in drawers in the bed frame.
If this is a children's room, then there is enough space for a bed, a wardrobe and a desk or computer desk. If two children will live in the room, then it is best to use modular furniture systems. It would be optimal to put a bunk bed, a closet against the wall opposite the window and a play or work area near the window. By the way, in the latter you can fix a long wide tabletop by usingwindowsill. This will ensure your child has enough light for activities and saves space for play.
Colors
The design of a two-room Khrushchev, of course, does not end with redevelopment, especially since many will not even dare to start it, since this is a rather costly process. But do not despair, and with the help of some interior tricks, you can achieve optimal comfortable extended space. The first is, of course, color.
In a small apartment, you should use only light and pastel colors of the walls, ceiling, floor, furniture. Bright accents can be done, but in small quantities and preferably on walls opposite to lighting. For example, you can highlight the head of the bed, standing opposite the window, with bright photo wallpapers or a chocolate-colored wall.
Furnishing
The design of a two-room apartment in Khrushchev and the workload of space is greatly influenced by the location and size of the furniture. Therefore, we remove all dimensional objects (wardrobes, sofa) further from the light source (windows). It is better to use built-in cabinets with mirrored or lacquered doors that visually expand the area. It is desirable to select furniture in light colors, as dark brown, black colors make the headsets more massive. But sofas or armchairs can be put in bright colors.
As for storage, it would be optimal to use numerous mezzanines in Khrushchev, converting them to stylish hanginglockers.
Ceilings
Give preference to plain light glossy stretch ceilings with a reflective surface and 3D printed canvases that visually increase the height of the ceilings, for example, a blue sky with clouds. Another option is a two-level ceiling with a reflective surface. In this case, LED lighting around the perimeter of the ceiling perfectly lengthens the room.
Lighting
Speaking of lighting. The successful design of a two-room Khrushchev simply cannot do without high-quality bright lighting. With the help of well-designed lamps, you can also change the accents in the apartment, highlighting the most important areas, hiding flaws and visually expanding the area.
Partitions and walls
Another design trick, if we talk about the re-equipment of the apartment, is sliding doors (like a closet) and sliding screens. With the help of such "nominal" walls, you can create a single space at a convenient time for you or hide from prying eyes, for example, a bedroom.
As you can see, with the right approach, even the smallest and most uncomfortable apartment can be turned into a real design studio with a comfortable and beautiful layout. And if you do not want to spend a large amount on its reconstruction, use the inexpensive design of a two-room Khrushchev with compact furniture, play of light, color and the like. Happy repair!
