There are many ways to brew coffee in a Turkish coffee pot or coffee machine, but none can achieve purity and uniformity of the drink without a coffee filter. A simple invention also protects the machine from scale, filters water from random impurities. Hundreds of companies offer coffee filters of various shapes, sizes, and designs. Expensive coffee machines work only with a certain model of the filter element, but in other cases they are interchangeable.
Types of coffee filters
According to the number of brews before failure, filters for a coffee machine are divided into disposable and reusable. Cellulose filters are used only once and then thrown away. Reusable are used tens and hundreds of times, depending on the mesh material. Filters are divided into types and design - smooth, ribbed, conical and basket-shaped, depending on the type of coffee machine holder.
Paper Interchangeable Models
Paper coffee filters are made from ordinary cellulose, are cheap, have the simplest design and are used only once. With their help, a smallthe number of cups of coffee - usually from one to six. The advantages of such filters are small - they are hygienic, environmentally friendly, simple and convenient to use, but they only retain thick. Reusable models
Reusable coffee filters are more complex in design, made from different materials - nylon, plastic, titanium nitride, textiles and stainless steel. Such devices work up to six months, are reliable in operation, and allow you to prepare a large number of cups of coffee without constantly changing the filter element.
Nylon filters are the most common. The plastic frame, covered with synthetic material, is the basic filter of a cheap manual coffee maker, which can be changed if desired. The disadvantage of this design is the frequent flushing of the mesh. With this model, the drink is prepared up to 60 times.
Golden coffee filters are coated with titanium nitride, giving the nylon a matching color. Spraying increases the quality of the filter at times, makes it durable and hygienic. Expensive titanium filters last up to six months, and due to the ease of washing, the number of prepared cups increases to two hundred.
Textile filters have practically disappeared from the market due to outdateddesigns. Made from natural materials (linen, cotton), they are highly environmentally friendly and do not affect the taste of the prepared drink. Now used for cooking in a Turk, they require frequent washing and skip a fine fraction of the thick. When washing textiles, do not use synthetic detergents that will impart an unpleasant odor to the future drink.
Stainless steel models are durable and practical, used in piston coffee makers. Steel is environmentally friendly, does not transmit third-party odors at all. Coffee brewed in a machine with a metal coffee filter is the most aromatic and delicious.
Self-made from scrap materials
It is impossible to keep track of the number of filter applications, as well as to foresee its accidental breakage. The unpleasant taste and smell that appeared during brewing does not add sophistication to coffee, not to mention thicker in the drink. Forgetfulness, lack of money to buy a new one - a sea of force majeure. Coffee lovers often think how to make an emergency coffee filter in a couple of minutes.
The easiest way to replace the filter element at home is to use a clean calico or cotton patch sewn with a cone or pouch. The fabric perfectly passes water, retaining thick. After each wash, the fabric is washed and used again and again. Do not use cotton wool or bandage as a filter element. They are sterile but have an unpleasant medical odor.
Making a disposable paper coffee filter is as easy as shelling pears - just roll a piece of paper into a cone and insert it into the coffee maker. The disadvantage of this method lies in the preliminary check of the cone for throughput. Use paper that can withstand hot water for a long time. Often all these are paper towels or napkins.
