When a person chooses a material to cover a roof or create a fence on the site, the construction team often recommends the use of corrugated board. But what is corrugated board and why is it good? Due to its technical characteristics and price, it has become one of the most popular and sought-after building materials on the market. Let's take a look at what corrugated board is, what are its pros and cons, and the scope. We will also tell you how to choose the right one and how much it costs.
What is corrugated board?
This material is a profiled metal sheet (mainly steel) that has been cold rolled and profiled. That is, ribs were artificially created on the sheet in order to impart rigidity. In construction, the importance of this material is difficult to overestimate, it can be used for many purposes. But more on that later.
Materials for making it
Steel, aluminum, chromium-nickel steel, copper are used for the production of the material. According to GOST, the corrugated board must have a thickness of 0.3-1.2 mm. Different materials are used for different purposesthickness. In the manufacture of ribs, they can be given a different shape: oval, trapezoidal, polygonal, regular square, etc.
Also, zinc, aluminum and aluminum-zinc coatings are used in the manufacturing process (usually 100-275 grams per square meter of layer), which gives anti-corrosion properties to the material. And to increase strength and wear resistance, various polymers such as polyvinyl chloride, polyester, acrylic, polyurethane, etc. are used. Thanks to these polymers, it is possible to preserve the paint layer and protect the color from fading.
Views
The scope of the material determines its appearance. For example, corrugated board for walls is used for cladding the walls of buildings and creating a fence. It is marked with the letter "C". The popular C20 corrugated board can be used for the roofing of industrial and civil buildings with a lathing step of 0.4 m. In residential construction, this brand is used very widely. C20 professional flooring has a long service life. It retains its aesthetic properties for 10-15 years. At the same time, it has quite good physical properties. In particular, it perfectly withstands wind loads, which is why it is often used as a building envelope.
The second type is universal. This is HC35 corrugated board, which is intended for roofing, building walls, fences. Although it is most often used to create a roof roof due to its excellent performance, this material is perfect forerection of fences. It can have a polymer or galvanized coating, which effectively protects it from any adverse weather conditions. The thickness of the HC35 corrugated board can vary from 0.5 to 0.8 mm, which ensures low weight. At the same time, it is easily cut, which simplifies the process of installation and dismantling. Well, the aesthetic properties are on top: it can be given any color. Partly because of this, it is often used for roofing.
H75 corrugated sheet can have a thickness from 0.4mm to 1mm, and it is also produced by cold rolling. Like the previous types, this one is also used for roofing, creating fences or frame structures, as well as for wall cladding. The possibility of galvanizing or applying a polymer layer on H75 corrugated board is included. By the way, it is H-profiles that are load-bearing, so it is appropriate to use them to create roofs and fences. They are more rigid and able to withstand heavy loads. The profile H-153 is most often used for roofing and walls.
It is assumed that grade "C" is intended for creating fences and walls. Grade "H" is better suited for the manufacture of canopies and canopies, and the universal brand "NS" - for roofing and fences.
It is difficult to determine which corrugated board is better, because it needs to be selected for certain tasks. But we can definitely say that a profile with a large cross section is more durable. Such, for example, is better suited for the installation of enclosing structures.
Dignitymaterial
One of the first advantages of the material is its light weight and ease of installation. If you compare it with natural tiles or, for example, with slate, you can even highlight its "non-fragility", so even after falling from a great height nothing will happen to it.
Installation of corrugated fencing does not require a foundation, and it's just fine when compared to brick fences or stone walls. From a design point of view, the material is good, as it is available in many color variations. What a house fence made of corrugated board looks like can be seen in the photo below.
The next advantage is protection against corrosion (due to coating), mechanical damage, ultraviolet radiation, temperature changes. The service life of the material is 50 years. Although after that it will also serve, because it is metal.
Not to mention the cost. The price of corrugated board per m2 distinguishes it from other roofing materials. Perhaps only a chain-link mesh will cost less when constructing a fence. However, we will talk about the price of corrugated board per m2 a little later.
Cons
One of the big minuses is the so-called drum effect. During rain, the noise level can reach 95 dB (this is with a heavy downpour), so the installation of corrugated board without fail involves the use of soundproof materials (stone or glass wool).
The second minus - a scratch on the anti-corrosion layer can lead to rapid rusting. Therefore, upon discoverydeep scratch should be repaired immediately.
Further - the small thickness of the sheet, due to which installers often suffer during installation or transportation. Cuts and scratches on the corners of the edge are almost always present during installation.
Roofing corrugated board with a sheet thickness of up to 0.55 mm is easily deformed. This is the last disadvantage of corrugated board. GOST at the same time corresponds. Therefore, it should be handled carefully during installation. It happens that the workers from the brigade simply bend the rib, but then straighten it out. But the dent is still visible in the end. And there is nothing unusual in this, just the technical characteristics of corrugated board are as follows.
Despite all these shortcomings, profiled sheet is still one of the most popular building materials in fencing and roofing.
Cost
It is difficult to answer exactly how much a corrugated fence costs. Depending on the thickness of the corrugated board you will use, the price may be different. For example, if you want to use a material 2 meters high and 0.4 mm thick, then the price of such a profile will be 180 rubles per linear meter. In this case, we are talking about inexpensive polymer profiled C8. The same galvanized profile will cost 155 rubles per linear meter.
Usually, sellers indicate 2 prices, including the cost per square meter. The price per square meter of C8 polymer profiled sheeting with a thickness of 0.4 mm is 155 rubles, galvanized - 130 rubles.
But there is also more expensive material. C21 corrugated board is more expensive: its price is an average of 175 rubles per square meter. The same galvanized material is slightly cheaper than polymer - 130 rubles.
The indicated prices were taken from Moscow sellers. They can vary greatly depending on the region and the seller himself, therefore they are not final. You may find cheaper material, but be aware that its approximate price per square meter is 130-180 rubles.
Installation cost
The price for the material itself is small, its installation will be more expensive. The prices below are average prices for Russia, and they may vary depending on the region, the professionalism of the team, etc.
For the installation of one linear meter of the fence, the team takes 500 rubles. This includes marking, drilling holes for poles, cleaning and painting these poles, installing in two rows and, of course, installing the corrugated board itself. In this case, the pillars will be installed simply in the ground. This is usually sufficient to provide high strength. But the brigades also offer to concrete the poles, backfill them, or generally use screw poles. In this case, the cost per linear meter will increase. For example, the cost of installing corrugated board with concreting pillars will cost an average of 700 rubles per linear meter.
Calculation example
As you already understood, it is impossible to calculate the cost by default, because it will depend on the perimeter and type of corrugated board, as well as other trifles: will there be concreting of pillars, is therethe need for additional work (for example, dismantling the old fence), etc.
But let's take a simple calculation as an example.
Let's say you need to make a perimeter fence. You measured all sides and got the required length of 40 meters (10 meters on each side). This means that you will have to pay 7,200 rubles (180 rubles per linear meter) + poles for the material itself. In total, you can count on 10 thousand rubles (only the material itself).
We can now also calculate the cost of work: we multiply 40 by 500 (the price for installing a linear meter) and get 20 thousand rubles. We add 10 thousand for the material and get 30 thousand rubles. This is how you can approximately calculate how much a corrugated fence costs, but the team will tell you the final price.
Roofing is a little different.
Roof cost
The price for the material will be approximately the same: about 160-200 rubles per square meter. The cheapest galvanized corrugated board costs so much. As you can see, the cost of the material is the same. Moreover, the material itself is the same, it can be used both for the roof and for the fence device. But the final price will depend on the thickness of the sheet, the steel grade, the type of coating, the height of the rib. It is also worth additionally calculating the cost of a sealant, a layer for sound insulation, wind slats.
Cost of corrugated roof installation
The cost of work also differs, and there is no specific standard. It all depends on the complexity, the shape of the roof, the organization of the roofing pie. Even mattersroof space.
However, roofing crews charge about the same amount, although you can often find extremely cheap offers, but on average the price of laying a square meter builds 150 rubles. It is also worth considering that you will have to pay for laying additional materials, such as a sound insulation layer, etc. So it is impossible to calculate the cost yourself. It is necessary to call a team, pay for measuring the required work (some do not take money for measuring), the workers calculate and say the final amount. At the same time, they take into account all the complexities, for example, bypassing the chimney when laying.
Conclusion
Now you have learned what corrugated board is and what is the way to count it. The figures given in the article do not claim to be the ultimate truth, however, the approximate average cost of the material and work with it is as indicated above.
