Today, arches in the interior of residential premises are becoming more and more popular, especially if residents are redeveloping apartments. This is an original architectural solution. Most often, an arched opening is made in the hallways.

Types of arches

Arches in the interior are monolithic concrete, plaster, brick and wood (beech, oak, pine).

Door and window openings may have a lancet or round shape. Arches with a round outline are divided into several types:

  • "classic" (correct radius);
  • "modern" (rise in the arc of the arch);
  • "romance";
  • "ellipsoid".

Brick arches

Arches in the interior are made in the same way as masonry in bow lintels.

Masonry is carried out on the formwork, the basis of which is a circle in the form of an arch contour. For accuracy of installation at the required level, the racks are mounted on special wedges. Patterned brick is used for masonry so that all seams have the same thickness.

Brick arches are made with different rise and radius of curvature.

Woodenarches

Such openings are made from unified glued blocks, rigidly connected at intermediate nodes.

Four structures are known for plank arches without puffs.

In the first method, the fastening of the joints is usually carried out with special metal plates, which are pulled together with bolts. Wooden elements are cut according to the required contour from a piece of wood according to a given pattern.

This method is quite simple, but has a number of disadvantages, since the wood at the bends often splits along the length of the fibers, which negatively affects the strength of the manufactured elements.

Wooden arches in the second method are made from softened wooden elements, previously boiled or steamed in metal molds.

The element is placed in a container with boiling water and kept for several hours at a constant boil of water. Then, at the bending point, the necessary mechanical stress is created in order to give the structure the desired shape. For this purpose, various devices are used that resemble pipe bending machines. The element is fixed in the desired position until dry. The wood fibers then take on a stable shape with the physical and mechanical properties of a straight piece. To make identical bent elements, bend in special jigs.

In the third method, thin strips of wood are glued onto a wooden block in places where the arch element is convex.

Arches in the interior can befulfill by purchasing components in a retail network. The joints are fastened with metal plates, tightened with bolts, which are closed with decorative panels.

Finished openings

The market offers ready-made arched openings in disassembled form, which can be assembled independently with a certain amount of knowledge about the design of such products.

Arches in the interior come in various modifications, so today's market offers components that allow you to change the geometry of the original door structure using locks, special panels and decorative blocks.
