Currently, maintaining body hygiene is not possible without plumbing fixtures such as a bathtub or shower. The latter is much more popular, as taking a bath takes a lot of time, and you can freshen up with a shower in just a few minutes.
Concealed faucets are a great solution to the problem of "small area", as it is one of the ways to significantly save space. All models have the same purpose, only the devices are different.
What is a concealed faucet?
Traditional appliances involve the placement of the adjustment device and the water supply in the housing. A concealed faucet is a fixture that exists separately from the spout. It is necessary to install such a device at the moment when the water pipes are being diluted, since installation into the wall takes place. From the outside, only the metal nozzle and control lever are visible.
Each manufacturer strives to release their faucets with a hiddeninstallation, but in general, 2 main types can be distinguished:
- Recessed mechanism - a monolithic cast metal frame with holes for supplying hot and cold water, equipped with fasteners. The only collapsible part of such a mixer is the cartridge.
- Embedded box. These universal concealed faucets come in two types: a shower device (ceiling hand shower or a hand shower equipped with a flexible hose) and a bath and shower device (two water outlets: a shower head and a spout).
Stationary appliance with watering can and single lever switch
A concealed faucet is a regulator of the temperature and pressure of water that comes from a faucet or shower head. The latter are: simple and multi-mode. The most primitive is the single-lever system, which is based on a cartridge that performs the same function as the valve and ball mixer in a traditional appliance.
A watering can with a mode switch and a mixer is connected by a long flexible metal corrugated hose. Fastening to the wall is carried out using a special bracket.
Sequence of installation or replacement of the faucet
The concealed shower faucet can be installed by yourself, all it takes is a little experience and special tools.
The procedure is as follows:
- With the help of a grinder or a wall chaser, you need to make a groove untilrequired height reached.
- Pipes for hot and cold water supply must be laid from the riser to the installation site of the mixer and hidden in the wall. By the way, special "stockings" are capable of compensating for thermal expansion, for the manufacture of which foamed polypropylene is used. When removing pipes, the requirements regarding the level and distance must be observed, otherwise the process of threaded connection with the device body will be delayed for a long time.
- Installation of the hidden part is carried out directly into the wall. In this case, a perforator and crowns are used. We must not forget how thick ceramic tiles or plastic panels will be used for wall cladding.
- The use of a fum tape allows you to achieve the optimal tightness value. Tow in combination with oil paint provides no less effect.
- Now you can start attaching the bracket and connecting the flexible hose to the corresponding faucet nozzle.
- The final step is to open the taps and check the tightness of the system. If a leak is found as a result, then first of all, you should check whether the gaskets fit snugly against the nozzles and tighten the nuts.
Types of hygienic shower with mixer
Hygienic shower with concealed faucet may be different depending on the features of its design:
- Widet-toilet. Externallypractically no different from a conventional toilet, but equipped with a nozzle that supplies warm water. The location of the latter can be both the toilet body and the retractable fitting. Installing such a hygienic shower involves replacing the existing toilet in the house. It is also necessary to provide a water supply and install a built-in concealed shower faucet, which should be included.
- Bidet cover. Installation of such a device is much simpler than the previous version, in addition, it can be installed on a regular toilet. The cover can be electric or conventional. The first is characterized by the presence of additional functions, for example, water heating and a hairdryer.
- The wall-mounted hygienic shower plus concealed faucet is the same design as a conventional shower, but with some differences. The watering can has a much smaller size and is equipped with a shut-off valve. You can install such a shower both separately and on the toilet. Before proceeding with self-assembly, you need to find a separate hidden niche in the wall, necessary for supplying hot and cold water, and then start working on the mixer. The result is warm water. If you plan to install such a shower directly on the toilet, then you first need to stock up on a tee to supply water to the tank. This option is much less labor intensive, but only cold water will be available in the end.
Briefly about the main things
The concealed faucet is a device that is best installed at a time when finishing and sanitarywork.
Ideally, installation should be done by a qualified technician. If it was decided to work independently, then you can turn to special brochures developed by the world's leading manufacturers for help - they can find detailed step-by-step instructions for installing a built-in mixer.
Where can I install a hidden faucet?
Depending on the type of wall and its thickness, there are the following installation options for the mounting block:
- on the wall;
- on the supporting frame;
- on an interior partition using a mounting rail;
- inside the wall.
The value of the optimal niche depth for the box varies from 80 to 100 mm. If there is such a need, you can use the extension hairpin, usually included in the kit. The partition, for the construction of which tongue-and-groove or gypsum blocks with a depth of 100 mm were used, needs special reinforcement, for example, in the form of a metal sheet bolted on.
Water supply
After the flush-mounted built-in faucets have been installed, you can proceed to the water supply: the fuel must be placed on the left side, and the cold one on the right. Manufacturers usually include everything you need in the kit, namely: an eyeliner, several reducing nipples and a plug.
Finishing work
The next step is to finish the walls or make a false wall fromdrywall. The second option involves attaching the mounting block to the gypsum board, in accordance with the design. Finally, the mixing unit is installed and the inside is closed with a panel on which are located: a control lever, a switch and a spout.
Instructions for installing a concealed faucet
Installing a flush-mounted hygienic system is much more difficult than installing a corresponding design on a sink. In this situation, you need to either drill a wall or make a special box in which you can place the inside of the product.
Such work involves the sequential implementation of the following steps:
- Studying the manual to familiarize yourself with the device and its features.
- Thinking about where to install the faucet and its accessories.
- Wiring the water supply system.
- Determine the exit point of the shower hose.
- Laying a connecting water supply.
- Preparing a niche in a wall or box. Making a niche involves using a puncher with a special nozzle installed on it.
- Laying all the necessary elements (pipes and bends) into the holes.
- Installing the faucet in a niche according to the instructions.
- Conducting a test run, namely a careful inspection of the system at the time of leaks, examining every centimeter, especially at the joints.
- Wall repair.
Important! When purchasing a flush-mounted faucet, you should pay attention to the mounting box. Availability of this devicegreatly facilitates repair work.
