The most delicious are Armenian apricots grown in the South Caucasus in the Ararat valley, as well as in its foothills. This fruit, which has absorbed all the energy of the hot sun, can rightfully be considered the most useful. Along with Central Asia and China, Armenia can also be considered the birthplace of the apricot. According to the apricot pits found during the excavations, scientists found out that this fruit has been growing here for more than 3,000 years. Description of apricot
Gardeners call this fruit variety Shalah (its other name is Yerevani) universal. The tree is vigorous, it can reach a height of 5-6 meters, the fruits of early or medium ripening. Fruiting in seedlings begins on the fourthyear of life, it lasts from 14 to 30 days.
The tree is quite capricious, tender, afraid of severe frosts. Among all Armenian apricots (and there are about 27 of them), Yerevani is rated as the most delicious. Use the fruit fresh, after conservation. They also make dried apricots: apricots and dried apricots. In Azerbaijan and Georgia, these fruits are used in canning.
Growing places
The Shalakh variety of apricots was especially popular in Yerevan. But over the course of 10 years, it also spread across the territory of various Asian countries. The ripening of apricots directly depends on climatic conditions and on the variety. In the south of Russia, as in Armenia, fruiting begins in late May and early June. On the territory of the regions of the central Black Earth region, ripening will begin in late July-August.
