Nedzwiecki is a botanist who has put a lot of work into his profession. In honor of him, this apple variety was named. However, the plant was introduced into the culture by another person - the German doctor Dick. Nedzvetsky's apple tree comes from Kashkar. At least the scientist first discovered it there.
Nedzwiecki's apple tree: description
The plant grows only up to 8 meters, has a smooth trunk, the shoots acquire a dark purple hue. At first, the leaves have the same color, but when the tree is fully leafed, only the petioles remain purple.
Nedzwiecki's apple tree has very beautiful flowers. When they are fully bloomed, they delight the eye with a pronounced pink color. Peduncles white tomentose. Such an unusual color greatly distinguishes the tree from other crops.
The fruits of the apple tree are medium-sized. They are about two centimeters in diameter. The color is the same - dark purple, the flesh is reddish.
The plant is extremely hardy and very undemanding. Trees easily tolerate diseases and are resistant to pests. Nedzwiecki's apple tree is grown for various purposes, but most often for decorative purposes - a lonely tree looks beautiful onlawn background.
L. Tillier (French horticulturalist) believed that the plant is ideal for use in decorative terms - it has no equal among other horticultural crops in Europe. The beauty of the apple tree has always been awarded only the highest ratings in different countries of the world. Against the backdrop of a variety of plants with green leaves, this tree will always be in the spotlight. Even in autumn, when Nedzwiecki's apple tree is strewn with glossy fruits, it sparkles with its beauty. Unfortunately, this rare plant species is endangered, so it was listed in the Red Book.
Nedzwiecki's apple tree: care tips
The plant first of all needs the right location. Therefore, it is planted in a sunny place. The soil must be fertile and fresh. It is necessary to ensure that groundwater does not reach the surface closer than 2.5 meters. Apple trees begin to grow after three years after planting and, it is worth noting, very quickly.
Nedzwiecki's ornamental apple tree also requires proper planting. It is necessary to dig holes with dimensions of 80x80x100cm, the distance between which is approximately 5-7 meters. The soil is usually prepared from humus, sand and leafy soil in a ratio of 3:2:1, respectively. In order for Nedzvetsky's apple tree (photo on the right) to be better accepted, 200-300 grams of granular superphosphate and peat can be added to the hole. Spring is considered the best time for planting (until the buds on the trees have yet blossomed), as well as autumn - a month and a half before the onset of cold weather (approximately in mid-October). AsSince the plant tolerates frost well, it is not necessary to cover it at all.
Nedzwiecki's apple tree is propagated by seeds. If planting is carried out in early autumn, then freshly harvested seeds will be required, if late, then seeds of 1.5-2-month stratification are needed. When it is planned to plant a plant in the spring, seeds stratified from December are needed (at the end of the term they are taken out under the snow). Rare ornamental varieties of apple trees are propagated by grafting.
