Today, the modern construction market provides a wide range of various materials for roofing and facade work, which differ in their cost and technical and operational characteristics. But perhaps the most popular materials have become metal tiles and corrugated board, which account for almost three-quarters of the roofing materials sold. And which one is more reliable, cheaper, more aesthetic? And in general, what is better - metal tile or corrugated board?
Profiling
Decking is made from galvanized steel sheets by cold rolling. To obtain good rigidity, the product is given a profiled shape (usually trapezoidal or wavy). To improve the performance, the corrugated board can also be coated with a polymer coating and be painted. To find out which is better - metal tile or corrugated board - you should know the advantages and disadvantages of this material.
Dignity:
- light and strong;
- easy installation;
- rich choice.
Flaws:
- poor sound insulation properties;
- susceptibility to corrosion where the protective layer is broken.
Metal tile
And what is the difference between a metal tile and a corrugated board? Like corrugated board, metal tiles are metal sheets coated with a polymeric protective layer, which are produced by cold rolling to give a wave shape, after which a transverse wave is attached to it by cold stamping. The material for the production of metal tiles, as a rule, is thin sheet steel. Protective coating - zinc or its mixture with other metals. To give an aesthetic appearance, the metal tile is covered with a decorative layer. This material got its name because in appearance it really resembles tiles, only much lighter. It would seem that the answer to the question of what is better - metal tile or corrugated board, is obvious, but metal tile also has its advantages and disadvantages.
Dignity:
- light and strong;
- high environmental friendliness;
- easy installation;
- rich choice.
Flaws:
- poor sound insulation properties;
- conductivity;
- susceptibility to corrosion where the protective layer is broken.
As we see, despitefor some differences in production technology, both materials, by and large, differ little from each other, except for the area of application. If metal tiles are used only as a roofing material, then the scope of corrugated board is much wider - in addition to covering roofs, it is used for cladding buildings and erecting various barriers. Another property that distinguishes between a metal tile and corrugated board is the price, which, by the way, differs slightly. For example, a square meter of metal tiles 0.5 mm thick covered with polyester costs about 250 rubles, and a square meter of corrugated board of the same thickness will cost 210-215 rubles.
It is quite difficult to say unequivocally which is better - metal tile or corrugated board for roofing. The metal tile, of course, looks more attractive, but the use of corrugated board will cost less not only because of the price of the material itself, but also the lower cost of components (drainage systems, skates, cornices, etc.). Therefore, it all depends on personal preferences and financial capabilities.
