It is best to insulate the roof before installing the roofing, because this is a more effective and easier way. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. There can be many reasons for this - for example, an unexpected change in weather conditions that can harm structures. That is why it may be necessary to insulate the roof from the inside.
In order to do all the work on the level, follow some simple rules that are the same for cases where both mineral and environmental insulation are used. When carrying out the installation procedure, make sure that the ventilation gap is open. If a special roofing membrane is used, attach the insulation close to its surface. So the material will fit snugly against the film, but it should not lift it above the rafters, because the ventilation gap will be blocked. There should be two. One is above the membrane and the other is below it. In order to control the required distance between the insulation and the film in onecentimeter, tighten the special limiter.
Arrange the joints of insulation sheets in a checkerboard pattern in adjacent layers. If they are about twenty centimeters thick, it is better to place them not in four layers, but in two ten centimeters each. In order for the insulation to fit snugly against the rafters, its width should be slightly greater than the distance between them. The natural materials used in the installation are much less prone to crumbling and more resilient than those made on a mineral basis. Using eco-friendly insulation, you can allow small irregularities at the edges.
Make sure that the insulating boards fit snugly not only to the rafters, but also to each other. If there are even small cracks, frost may form in frosty weather, and after it begins to melt, the roof will leak. If the roof is insulated from the inside in the presence of rafters with a large spacing, additionally fix the insulating material from the side of the room. This will help the wire. Attach it to the rafters with self-tapping screws, and in the future, the installed crate will support the insulation.
In the case where the design does not allow for insulation with sufficient thickness, use the following scheme: insulate the roof from the inside between and under the rafters. Attach the battens across the side of the room, between which install an additional layer of insulating material. This method is quite effective, since the rafters will be completely covered with insulation.
When using material based on mineral fibers, arrange a vapor barrier from the side of the room. Do not save in the process of choosing a film, as possible damage and defects can lead to a loss in the effectiveness of the insulation. This occurs after waterlogging of the mineral fiber material. In addition, pay special attention to the installation of the film, as well as pasting the joints between it and the structure. Insulate the roof from the inside as carefully and accurately as possible, because the comfort of all those living in the house will depend on this.
