The fight against cockroach colonies has been going on for more than a decade. And every time the cockroaches win. With the advent of the first cell phones, these nasty insects disappeared from view. However, ten years have passed, and they returned to their favorite habitats - warm apartments, houses, shops and offices. How to deal with cockroaches with their survivability?
Adult can live a month without food, 10 days without water, live quietly without oxygen for 45 minutes. The fertility of these nasty creatures can be envied. The female, being fertilized once in her life, can reproduce her own kind until the end of her days. In addition, cockroaches are able to adapt to any adverse conditions. Still, there are several ways to deal with domestic cockroaches.
Where to start?
It is not uncommon for owners to try all possible methods, but there is no point. This may be due to the fact that cockroaches crawl from neighbors.through ventilation, cracks in the floor and baseboards, holes in the ceiling for electrical wiring. Before you fight cockroaches, you need to find the source of occurrence, or rather, the penetration of insects into the apartment.
All cracks must be sealed immediately. Ordinary mounting foam will help, we carefully foam all the holes and start the fight against those who stayed in the apartment.
How to deal with cockroaches effectively?
Various methods will come to the rescue - from chemicals to improvised means.
- The simplest and most effective method is to use insecticides. These are such gels, ointments, poisoned baits and crayons that kill a cockroach. The most famous and proven for many years: Dohlox, Raptor, Global, Raid.
- An effective method of how to deal with cockroaches is the use of boric acid. If you have boric acid, it is also boric alcohol (sold in pharmacies), then you can cook the poisoned paste yourself. Take 1 tsp. boric acid and the same amount of starch, mixed and added 100 ml of hotwater. The paste must be cooled and with a cotton pad, applied to the habitats of cockroaches. The effect will not appear immediately, but after 5 - 7 days the number of domestic insects will be significantly reduced.
- The most common species are red and black cockroaches. There is an opinion that redheads are more adapted, and therefore it is more difficult to breed them. But there are plenty of effective ways to deal with black cockroaches. One of them is boric acid powder. It is scattered in small quantities on the floor in nooks and crannies, or mixed with any edible bait.
- Aerosols, in particular Dichlorvos, still exist. They are used less frequently due to their high toxicity to humans. But you need to have such a tool on hand when you see a lone cockroach. It is much easier to instantly deal with a cockroach, rather than laying out baits and not waiting for the effect for several days.
These products are applied to places where insects are most often seen - baseboards, walls behind kitchen furniture, not far from cracks. The principle of action of chemicals is contact, that is, an infected cockroach transmits poison when meeting with relatives and the entire colony dies. Care should be taken with such products, especially if there are small children and pets in the house.
