Acid-resistant brick is capable of being exposed to acids. These products are actively used in industrial enterprises.
Scope of acid-resistant products
The products mentioned above are used to protect all kinds of equipment, which inevitably comes into contact with aggressive substances during operation. This material is popular in the construction of various industrial structures, chimneys, flues, towers, gutters, and tanks. Such bricks are also used for lining pipes that remove substances with active and toxic components. Fuel stations can't be built without acid-resistant material either.
Production Features
Acid-resistant brick contains ingredients that are pre-treated. As a rule, such products contain clay, dunite and some additives. All these components are necessary to give the bricks strength. Clay, sand and fireclay are fired, sintered at significant temperatures, which canreach 1300 °C. After that, it is possible to obtain a brick, which not only possesses the listed qualities, but is also not afraid of the effects of concentrated alkalis and high temperatures. Products perfectly undergo mechanical stress.
The acid-resistant brick is used in tandem with a special acid-resistant putty. To cut the material, a machine powered by an electric motor is used.
Parameters of acid-resistant brick according to GOST
The acid-resistant brick has a weight of approximately 3.5 kg, but this figure may vary depending on the shape and size. So, the most common are straight and wedge products, which can be end or rib. The block can be radial, and it, in turn, is divided into longitudinal and transverse bricks.
The most commonly used dimensions in construction are 230x113x65 mm. Acid-resistant brick may have some deviations from the dimensions specified by GOST. The allowable error varies within 2-8 mm.
Sometimes it becomes necessary to carry out work using a thickened product. This involves the use of one and a half or double bricks, each of them, according to the usual principle, can be solid, hollow or porous. Hollow ones have one or more holes, the shape and dimensions of which can be different. Such blocks do not exert such an impressive load on the base of the building, and the walls, which are based on the described products, are characterized by thermal insulation qualities. In addition, theycheaper due to less impressive consumption of raw materials.
But it is not recommended to use hollow material if the structure will be in direct contact with water.
Acid-resistant brick (GOST 474-90)
When purchasing products that have the qualities described above, pay attention to the fact that they must be produced in accordance with GOST 474-90. The acid-resistant brick in this case has small fractions at the break, and its surface is uniform. Do not use blocks that have internal cracks. This indicates a marriage, such bricks will not last long.
It is necessary to ensure that there is a marking, it is located on one side of the brick. There should be a label on the box, package, and also on the pallet, on which you can find information about the product class, quantity of goods, batch number and date of manufacture.
During transportation, the bricks must be well packed in pallets made according to the specifications 21-28-60, they can be replaced by containers made according to the 19667 standard. In order to prevent tipping during transportation, the bricks are tied with metal tape.
It is extremely important when buying to pay attention to GOST. Acid-resistant brick, produced without observing the mentioned standards, will not meet the listed quality characteristics, will not protect structures and structures. Items should not be shipped in boxes or bags that weigh more than 1 ton.
Purchase for private construction sucha brick is impractical, since it has a more impressive cost than a regular one.
