The use of various filters always takes place with a gradual clogging of the material. As a result, there is a need for flushing, regeneration or replacement. The latter option is considered a rather costly upgrade. Experts recommend a more profitable solution - a self-cleaning water filter. The filling material in it is washed from dirt with a strong pressure of water. But flushing devices are only suitable for cleaning from mechanical impurities.

Construction

The body of the self-cleaning filter is made of sheet steel and steel profiles. At the bottom of the device there is a funnel designed to collect dust that falls out through mechanical dampers with a counterweight into plastic bags. It is disposed of as household waste.

In the center there are filtration candles, which are fixed with mounting studs. Themreplacement and installation do not need extra height. This is a huge advantage if the device is located in low production areas. Also in the center of the filter there is a separation chamber that protects the candles from various air shocks. In addition, it has a compartment for large dusty particles. Solenoid valves and an air duct with blowing nozzles are installed at the top of the filter.

Working principle

The most commonly used mesh self-cleaning filter. In it, water passes through a flask with a grid. Fine-mesh mesh can delay mechanical inclusions. A large layer of contaminants gradually accumulates on the surface, which interferes with the passage of fluid and reduces the pressure in the system. The easiest way to remove dirt is to remove the mesh and rinse it under running water. Then it is installed in place, and the device is assembled. Such actions are simple and do not take much time.

Modern systems can get rid of dirt automatically. A special drain valve opens and the dirt is washed off the mesh with water. In order for the flushing to work, it is necessary to install a discharge channel during the installation process. In its absence, you can proceed as follows: the container is placed under the drain hole of the self-cleaning filter.

Types of devices

The standard version of mesh-type water treatment devices is a device with a manual filter cleaning. But there are different models: some are disassembled, others are washed without disassembling the case. In addition, thereproducts with manual washing.

  1. With 100% automatic cleaning. These devices do not require the participation of people to start the washing process. Self-cleaning occurs when the timer or filler contamination sensor is triggered. A self-cleaning filter with a pressure gauge allows you to set a schedule for cleaning at a specific frequency.
  2. With flushing by semi-automatic method. In this case, human participation will be required to start the process. The nature of purification is influenced by the design features of the device and filter material.

Automatic and semi-automatic devices are used in heavily loaded systems. These include pool maintenance systems, water treatment complexes and other objects with active water consumption.

Mobile device

If we talk about self-cleaning systems, it is impossible not to single out a mobile self-cleaning filter. This is a high performance device used in non-stationary work sites. Its purpose is to purify the air, which is polluted with various dust, welding fumes and other dry pollutants. The cassette self-cleaning filter is cleaned automatically, while the filtration process does not stop.

Classification by case material

Self-cleaning filters are classified according to the material of which the housing is made:

  • Plastic. They are made from high or low pressure polypropylene.
  • Metal. Such products are bronze, brass, steel and others.

Classification by filter media

For such devices, filter media can be of the following types:

  1. Disk porous elements. They are made by pressing under pressure.
  2. Fine-meshed metal or polymer mesh. This option is often used in household appliances. The fine filter has a grid with the smallest cells. However, they fill up quickly.
  3. Backfill material. It forms a porous structure after compaction. It is rarely used in household filters.

Self-cleaning appliances can be supplemented with certain equipment. For example, a manometer that allows you to monitor the pressure in the system. Its decrease indicates that the filter element needs to be cleaned. A pressure reducer can also be used to protect the system from water hammer.

Self-cleaning filters have many advantages. They make it easier to maintain the device. The filter element will last as long as possible, and the flushing procedure does not require shutting off the water.
