Cost-effective materials have always been of interest to builders. Their use reduces the complexity of work and cost. Currently, a lot of materials are used that are cheaper than conventional goods, and their use can significantly speed up the pace of construction of building structures. These include gypsum blocks.

Advantages of gypsum products

The best proof of the benefits of using gypsum blocks is the following example: 20 red bricks of a single kind or 14 silicate products can be replaced with just one slab. If the brick surface subsequently needs to be plastered, which is not at all cheap, then the wall made of gypsum blocks is almost ready for final finishing - painting, wallpapering. It is only necessary to seal the seams and sand them. Another advantage of using gypsum products is the increased speed and ease of installation.

Thanks to this, partitions of any type can be erected:

  • Single.
  • Double.
  • Curly.

The light weight of products, their environmental friendliness, the ability to use in any premises make gypsum blocks an indispensable material for building new or repairing existing structures. Another important advantage that a gypsum block has is the price. Depending on the region and manufacturer, the cost of one product ranges from 165 to 197 rubles.

General information

Gypsum is the main material from which boards are made. Why was this material chosen for the production of products so necessary for the construction industry? This was facilitated by important properties from the point of view of economy, ecology and safety:

  • Fire retardant.
  • No toxic ingredients.
  • Dielectric characteristics.
  • Acidity similar to that of the human body.
  • High gas and vapor permeability.
  • No smell.

Gypsum-groove blocks are monolithic products made of building gypsum. They have the shape of a parallelepiped and are distinguished by very accurate dimensional indicators. In production, natural gypsum is subjected to low-temperature processing to obtain structures.

Produced in conventional products and able to resist moisture. To obtain moisture-resistant products, hydrophobic components are introduced into the molding composition, which significantly reduces the moisture-absorbing properties of products.

Despite the use of additives, moisture-resistant products in all respects do notdiffers from the usual one - it also "breathes", has ecological cleanliness and has the same properties, but it perfectly resists moisture. And all because Portland cement and blast-furnace slag in granules serve as additives - environmentally friendly materials. To distinguish moisture-resistant gypsum blocks from ordinary products, they are dyed light green during manufacture.

Scope of application

Gypsum blocks are used for partitions and non-bearing walls. Since products of different thicknesses are on sale, they can be selected for use in the construction of any buildings:

  • housing;
  • industrial-type facilities;
  • public buildings;
  • structures for other purposes (warehouses, storage facilities, etc.)
  • treatment facilities;
  • kindergartens, schools.

The type of products (single or double) depends on the regulatory requirements for sound and vapor barrier for a particular object or the need to place communications inside the wall structures.

Specifications

Regardless of the type, both ordinary and moisture-resistant tongue-and-groove blocks have almost the same characteristics:

  • Dimensions - 8x50x66, 7 cm. Possible deviations from dimensions - 0.5x1, 0x1.5 mm.
  • Mass plate - 27 kg.
  • A square meter of partition wall weighs about 82 kg.
  • Radiation indicators - class "A".
  • Spread of fire within 0.0 m.
  • Water absorption: regular - 23-25%, waterproof - no more than 5%.
  • Compressive strength - 4.4 MPa.
  • Density (in kg per 1 cubic meter) – 1000.

For ease of storage and transportation, gypsum blocks are packed in bags of 15 slabs. Then they are placed on wooden pallets, 2 bags each. The product packed in this way has a height of 1 m and weighs 870 kg together with the pallet. To leave the products for storage, you need to lay them on the edge. The height of the stack should not exceed 1.5 m, so that the products are not deformed, otherwise this will lead to a loss of both external indicators and strength.
