Recently, new types of products began to appear on the market of building facing materials. They are distinguished by ease of assembly and installation, high quality and durability, as well as a number of technical advantages. Among such materials, metal siding can be noted, the installation of which is used to decorate both industrial buildings and residential buildings. The use of this type of finish will eliminate external defects in buildings, give newness to dilapidated walls, as well as protect them from destruction and increase their heat-shielding properties.
Main work
Metal siding (the installation of which does not require much effort) is a sheet, one end of which is perforated, and the holes are made taking into account compensatory expansion during temperature changes. The main installation steps for this material can be represented as follows:
- Preparatory work. This stageincludes the removal of fasteners of the drainage system, roller shutters (if any) and other structures. You also need to clean the facade of crumbling plaster and climbing plants. In addition, it is necessary to check the surface of the walls with a level, it is recommended to remove irregularities by laying the lathing system.
- Laying the frame. This type of work can be done from wooden beams or a metal base for siding. When choosing the latter option, the profile is attached to the wall with hangers (perforated strips). Wooden lathing is usually made of beams 5×5 cm in size, the fastening step depends on the structure of the building and the design of the metal siding.
- Marking and fixing the brackets. The installation instructions for metal siding contain information about the specified distances, these values differ for each siding model, but in general the values range from 400–1000 mm.
- Laying insulation. These works are performed to increase the thermal protection of the building, the material is fixed with dish-shaped dowels. In addition, a waterproofing and windproof membrane must be laid on top.
- Metal siding, the installation of which also includes the fastening of additional elements, is connected to the crate by means of self-tapping screws. In this case, the starting bar is installed first - 4 cm above the expected start of laying the panels, the second element is fixed 6 mm from this level. The final detail is made under the eaves, the installation step of the slats is 20–40 cm, withwhen connecting them, it is recommended to leave a gap to compensate for thermal expansion.
- Installation of the main elements. In this case, fastening is performed from the corner of the building, self-tapping screws must be attached from the central part to the edges into perforated holes. The openings for the window must be marked on the sheet and cut out, in the same way, process the details under the cornice.
Additional information
Metal siding (the installation of which was discussed above) can be processed using tools such as a hacksaw, electric saw, metal shears and so on. In this case, it is impossible to use devices with an abrasive cutting element, for example, a grinder, as this can lead to the destruction of the material structure. In addition, the following tools may be needed during work:
- level, tape measure;
- plumb line, square, marker;
- screwdriver, hammer, riveter.
