For the first time, floribunda roses were bred at the beginning of the last century by crossing polyanthus and tea roses. The result was a new species that optimally combined all the positive characteristics of the original groups. Successful experience spurred breeders to new crosses, and as a result a number of subspecies were bred. In 1976, at Oxford, the World Federation of Rose Societies gave this group of flowers the official name "floribunda", which means "profusely blooming". Floribunda roses can be different. The varieties of this flower are represented by low curbs, only about 40 centimeters high, medium-sized - 60-80 centimeters and tall, whose height is 1 meter or more. In the form of a bud, these roses resemble tea roses. Flowers can be simple, semi-double and double with a diameter of 4-8 centimeters. The color range is huge, it even contains a striped floribunda rose. Planting and caring for this flower pays off with excellent winter hardiness, disease resistance and long, abundant flowering.
However, when deciding whether to grow roses of this species, it should be remembered that they are flowers forgrowing in a garden of sufficient area, as they have very lush bushes. Bouquet flowering is the next characteristic feature of a plant such as a floribunda rose. Planting and caring for it is carried out at the rate of 2-3 bushes per 1 square meter. Subject to this requirement, the bush gives wave flowering with lush inflorescences-bouquets. In the weather and climatic conditions of Russia, there can be three such waves. Lush blooms are always followed by peace.
It is impossible not to mention that with regard to such a plant as the floribunda rose, planting and care is a very painstaking business. These roses can be grown outdoors, but can be planted in large pots if desired. This plant needs a large amount of additional nutrients in the soil, since abundant wave flowering requires significant energy costs from it. That is why roses of this type must be constantly fed with nutritious fertilizers.
You can call a rather demanding plant such as the floribunda rose. Planting and care necessarily involve frequent weeding, as it does not get along well with weeds, and abundant watering, since the soil at the base of the flower must always be moist. Novice rose growers should also consider that these plants do not like heavy pruning. They only need to be trimmed slightly from time to time.
Despite everything, floribunda roses are very popular among gardeners. Reviews tend to focus on long lasting decorativeness, variety of colors and scents, excellent flower quality, high winter hardiness and comparative unpretentiousness. They are usually planted in gardens and parks along the alleys, they are used to create decorative internal hedges, planted in the flowerbeds of the squares.
In the matter of cultivation, the attractiveness of the floribunda rose plant comes first, planting and care with all the subtleties fade into the background. This flower has many advantages, but almost its only drawback is the complete absence of aroma in some subspecies.
