Today everyone can create the kitchen of their dreams. And this applies not only to the general interior, walls, floors and ceilings. Nowadays, you can choose any design of kitchen furniture facades - from natural solid wood or its analogues (fibreboard, MDF), as well as plastic.
The first option is undoubtedly very good, but has one significant drawback - high cost. Therefore, most consumers prefer plastic facades. And the reason for this choice is not only the affordable price. Modern plastic panels used in the manufacture of furniture are durable, high-quality materials that do not require complex maintenance. In addition, such models, due to the variety of colors, fit perfectly into any interior.
We will look at various plastic kitchens. Photos, reviews of the owners you can see in this article.
Plastic facades
What is a plastic facade for a kitchen set? These are panels covered with a layer of plastic, which allows not only to decorate the furniture, but also to reliably protect it. As a rule, forfor the manufacture of such facades, chipboard or better and more durable material - MDF is used. It is easier to process, which eliminates the appearance of defects in production.
Front panels are covered with two types of plastic:
- CPL (roll roll).
- HPL (sheet).
Rolled plastic in its technical characteristics is similar to PVC film, but it is more dense, resistant to mechanical damage.
Plastic sheet is a particularly hard material. It is recognized as the best option for facades, as it has good characteristics: resistance to negative factors, high density. The differences between these materials affect the cost of the finished product. Such facades belong to the middle price segment. Therefore, plastic kitchens are very popular and in demand today.
How is plastic applied?
This process occurs under the influence of high pressure and temperature. Due to this, the color is "absorbed" into the plate layer. In the same way, the diffusion of the surface of the plate and the film occurs, which ensures maximum adhesion.
Advantages of plastic facades
First of all, it is necessary to say about the rich choice of external design of plastic panels, which is very important for housewives. A huge number of tones and textures is truly pleasing. You can create original options imitating wood or stone, graphic or floral patterns. Moreover, fans of futuristic ideas for a home or high-tech style today can use colored chameleons ormetal fronts that change color at certain angles.
Such plastic kitchens, photos of which can often be seen in manufacturers' catalogs, will decorate any room and emphasize your exquisite taste. Most consumers, in addition to the appearance of plastic facades, are also concerned about their practicality. Experts are sure that the materials we are considering have no worthy competitors in this parameter.
This is due to a number of reasons:
- Increased strength, which guarantees the absence of defects and cracks during operation. Thanks to a special technology for applying plastic to MDF boards, high moisture resistance is achieved. This ensures that the upper part does not flake off due to moisture.
- High durability puts plastic kitchens in first place among other analogues. With proper care, such a kitchen will not change its appearance even after ten years.
- Preservation of the "entourage" contributes to the heat resistance of the material and the lack of its reaction to ultraviolet.
- Endless design possibilities. In addition to a rich selection of texture and color solutions, plastic facades can be made in any shape - figured, curved oval, radius, etc.
- Even the matte and textured surface of the plastic has a slight sheen.
Flaws
Despite the obvious advantages, plastic facades also have disadvantages that must be considered before purchasing a set of furniture.
- Regardless of the texture of the material, fingerprints may remain on the surface of the facades. This issue is especially relevant for families with small children. In this case, we recommend that you think about other options, otherwise you will spend all your free time polishing drawers and cabinets.
- Some designs of kitchen facades have a significant drawback - the effect of a depressed surface may appear in the center. This visual distortion is commonly seen on boards that are cold pressed.
However, the excellent appearance and quality characteristics of these materials easily cross out all the shortcomings.
Plastic corner kitchens
Location of kitchen furniture at an angle is especially convenient when the room has a square shape or a small area. In the second option, this arrangement of furniture allows you to create a comfortable and ergonomic space, use the free space in the corner, use the existing niches.
The amazing plasticity of polyvinyl chloride allows you to go beyond right angles. Plastic kitchens can have soft smooth shapes, including concave ones, which many housewives prefer today, especially if the kitchen area is very small. The convenient arrangement of shelves and cabinets in the corner set allows you to place all the necessary kitchen utensils. This gives the hostess a chance to leave maximum work space.
Black and white kitchens
The range of colors of plastic kitchens is wide. They will help you navigate how various plastic kitchens look like, photos. Black and white models, in our opinion, are the most stylish option. And, judging by the reviews, we are not alone in our opinion. Many people think that such kitchens look so elegant and festive that it is simply a pity to cook in such a room.
In fact, black and white models are practical and comfortable. That is why millions of people around the world prefer this option. This is a great solution if you prefer high-tech style. Black and white plastic kitchens (you can see the photo in this article) turn a boring, boring room into a stylish and modern one. When purchasing such a kitchen, do not be afraid that you will not have enough colors - the combination of white and black looks very impressive.
DIY plastic kitchen
We have already said that high-pressure laminate is used to finish the facades of kitchen furniture. Most often it is labeled HPL. Making plastic doors for furniture in the kitchen can significantly reduce costs. If you manage to master the intricacies of this technology, then arranging a kitchen will cost you three times cheaper than ordering from professionals.
Where to start?
First, you need to cut a workpiece of the desired size from an MDF sheet, adding about 20 mm in width and length. The workpiece must be well cleaned of sawdust and dust and wiped dry. Glue is applied to the surface of the workpiece in a thin even layer. If you're not in too much of a hurry, use PVA ifyou need to make the facade quickly, you will need Kleiberit.
Lay plastic of the required size on top of the workpiece and roll it with a rubber roller, then place it under a press until the glue polymerizes. When it is completely dry, you need to get it out from under the press - you can start trimming the edge (should be 3 mm smaller than the original size).
The ends of the workpiece are milled, grooves are made in it for installing an aluminum profile. Your door is almost ready - it remains to install an aluminum profile around the perimeter of the facade. To do this, the end profile must be cut to the size of the workpiece, then file the ends at an angle of 45 degrees. Apply glue to the groove. In this case, you can use PVA or "liquid nails".
Install the profile into the milled groove and gently tap with a mallet until it is fully installed. When the profile is glued, file the aluminum frame joints with a file.
Owner Reviews
Most buyers are happy with plastic kitchens. Furniture, according to them, looks very modern, does not need complex care, is not afraid of moisture and temperature changes. In addition, the cost of such kits is quite affordable.
The only drawback of such models, many consider the remaining traces of the hands, especially on a glossy surface. But this shortcoming is easily eliminated with a soft cloth and detergent.
