Many owners try to design home furniture with their own hands. Ordinary stools can also be built independently. For example, mounting chairs for the kitchen with your own hands is as easy as shelling pears. At the same time, you will not need much time at all, and you do not need special knowledge. You only need to draw a drawing of the product, as well as assemble the necessary tools. As for the material, wood is most often used in the work.
What tools and materials are needed for the job?
Do-it-yourself chairs are made using this equipment:
- drill;
- jigsaw or fine-toothed saw;
- sandpaper and chisels;
- planer;
- hammer with nails, construction stapler;
- for a folding chair, special fasteners are needed that will ensure a secure fixation of the product in one position.
As for materials, oak, beech or pine beams for legs (lintels), as well as edged boards for the seat and back, are suitable for you. Naturally, the wood should be well dried and should not contain any cracks, breaks, knots and other flaws. If you want toto construct chairs with a soft seat with your own hands, then you will need foam rubber and upholstery fabric. To fix this material, it is advisable to use glue or a stapler with staples.
How to make a design?
In principle, the process is not difficult. First you need to draw a drawing of the future product on paper. At the same time, all dimensions are accurately indicated on it. Further work is carried out in a certain sequence:
1. Prepare all the necessary elements for the future product. To this end, you need to cut out 4 bars of the same length, from which you will construct the legs. Now, in these elements, grooves should be cut for the legs, as well as the base of the seat. For this purpose, use a chisel. At the same stage, try to "cultivate" the bars: it is desirable that the edges become softer, and the transitions from the grooves are smoother. Immediately you need to polish the future legs with sandpaper.
2. Next, we build chairs with our own hands as follows: we make prolegs, transverse (longitudinal) bases. Spikes should be cut out on them, which, without the slightest play, will fit tightly into the already prepared grooves.
3. Now you can cut out two beams for the back, and then attach them to the base of the chair.
4. All prepared parts should be sanded and varnished. The edges of the bars can be slightly rounded. Now you should start assembling the structure. At the same time, in order to make the connection of the spikes with the grooves as strong as possible, you can additionally fix them with self-tapping screws. Next, you need to build a back and a seat from a cutting board.
5. Now you can make the chairs soft. To do this, glue the foam rubber to the required places.
The stool in this case is constructed in the same way, only without a back.
How to build a folding structure?
Building a folding chair with your own hands is also easy. In this case, you will take significantly less material than a conventional stool. For this you need wood. A shield is used for the back and front legs. The rendered element will be movable. The back legs are made from wooden beams. Next, thin slats need to be nailed to the back.
As for the seat, it can be constructed from wooden planks, plywood or dense fabric. In order for the product to be fixed in a certain position, special spikes should be cut out on the shield. Metal pins can be used to base the seat.
As you can see, it is not difficult to mount wooden chairs with your own hands. And if you show imagination, you can create a real masterpiece.
