Acrylic primer is divided into two main types - strengthening and deep penetration acrylic primer. The difference between them lies in the particle size of the binder. The reinforcing primer mixture is intended for gluing (strengthening) the base of the surface and, naturally, the binding grains in them are several times larger than in penetrating mixtures. This primer is used primarily before wallpapering or painting the surface.
Acrylic deep penetration primer, containing extremely fine particles of binder material (usually acrylic polymers), is able to penetrate into the base of the surface to a depth of ten centimeters. Such primer mixtures are usually applied before applying a thick layer of coating to the surface. Such as tile adhesive or artistic plaster.
In addition, a penetrating acrylic primer has another important function - preventing the appearance of fungi or mold. It is also recommended to use this type of primer for the treatment of porous surfaces. Acrylic primer will significantly improve their performance and decorative qualities. Also, the penetrating acrylic primer has excellent protective properties, which makes it possible to actively use it as an anti-corrosion coating of metal surfaces. Of course, the primer is not able to completely prevent the occurrence of corrosion, but it significantly slows down the process of its development.
Acrylic primersalso differ in their composition, which determines their technical and operational characteristics. There are water-dispersion primer mixtures and organic-soluble ones. The first variety is less resistant to the influence of various external factors (dampness, temperature changes, etc.), but it is more environmentally friendly and has almost no smell. It is suitable for surface treatment before plastering and puttying. These primers are perfect for plasterboard, brick and concrete surfaces.
Organic-soluble primer mixtures are much better tolerated by external factors and have a greater degree of resistance to various contaminants. Such mixtures are recommended for use in exterior finishing work. For example, for processing facades of buildings.
