Chiller and fan coil systems provide independent temperature stabilization simultaneously in several rooms in one building. Therefore, they are often used in hotels, offices, etc.
They can automatically turn on and off, as well as change the heating or cooling capacity. Fan coil systems allow you to put the house into operation, thus gradually increasing the number of consumers. The role of consumers can be played by central air conditioners or other technological installation.
Types of fan coil units and their operation
Let's figure out what a fan coil is, what it is. This isa special unit that is installed indoors. It includes a filter, a heat exchanger with a fan, as well as a control panel, which, in turn, can be remote or built-in. The work is as follows. The fan supplies air from the room to the fan coil heat exchanger, which is heated or cooled. An air handling unit or AHU can also supply a small amount of fresh air to the unit itself. At the same time, the chiller and fan coil system simultaneously solves the problem of ventilation. As mentioned above, the system is mounted on the ceiling, wall or floor (distance 20-30 cm). There are also frameless units that can be installed behind decorative panels or suspended ceilings. Fancoils are made with one or two heat exchangers. As a result, the system is either two-pipe or four-pipe.
In the first case, fan coil units with one heat exchanger are used, into which hot or cold coolant enters. In the second case, there are already two heat exchangers. The bottom line is this: one is supplied with water (hot) from the central heating system, and the other is supplied with coolant from the chiller. Fan coil units with a four-pipe system are best installed under windows, as in winter they work as central heating radiators. So we figured it out, now the meaning of the word "fan coil" is clear.
Advantages of Chiller-Fan Coil System
The advantages of this system are as follows:

Just one chiller can be connected to a large number of fan coil units, as well as devices of the supply ventilation unit or the main air conditioner. At the same time, consumers work independently of each other: they can turn on, turn off, or change the operating mode.
- It is possible to regulate the operation mode of each fan coil unit from a remote or built-in control panel. The remote control can be mounted on the wall of the room. You can also set a single thermal regime for the entire system.
- The gradual increase in consumer capacity makes it possible to put the facility into operation also gradually, so to speak, in separate stages.
- The distance between the fan coil unit and the chiller is not limited, it is determined by the thermal insulation capabilities of the pipelines and the pumping station.

This can be seen in restaurants, cafes (maybe even on the wall). In apartments with two-pipeair conditioning system install floor fan coil units. The outdoor unit is enclosed in a decorative case and is somewhat similar to a heating battery. It can be equipped with a remote control system.
