Furniture plays an important role in decorating a room. And if we talk about the kitchen, here the overall impression will largely depend on the facade. Today there is a huge variety of them. And the choice of facades depends on the desire of the buyer.
Types of facades for the kitchen
Different materials are used for the production of kitchen furniture. It can be wood, glass, MDF, chipboard, plastic, or a combination of both. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.
Depending on the design, the following types of facades for the kitchen are distinguished:
- Solid wood used for solid slab facades. Looks great in large areas. But demanding care and expensive.
- Frame facade, characterized by practicality and low cost. Consists of a frame and a panel. Thanks to this, several different materials can be combined.
- Frameless, made from tempered glass (triplex).
Wooden frame fronts
There are a large number of material options from which frame facades can be produced. Manufacturingcan be made from one material or a combination of them.
At all times, wooden facades are widely used, which are still relevant today. Such elements will delight with natural beauty. They create a unique coziness and warmth in the room. Most often used in classic styles.
The frame is made from an array of different types of wood. It can be pine, oak, maple and others. For the panel choose both wood and other materials (MDF, plywood and others).
Benefits:
- sustainable;
- security;
- solid and "expensive" appearance;
- practical, humidity and temperature tolerance;
- resistance to mechanical stress.
Disadvantages include high cost and shrinkage (swelling) process.
MDF frame facades
MDF is a board made from wood fibers compressed under high pressure and temperature. MDF parts differ in the following advantages:
- strength;
- functionality;
- practicality;
- sustainable;
- does not shrink or expand.
To obtain facades, MDF boards are faced in various ways. It can be painted, veneered, PVC film or plastic.
Painted facades
The painted MDF frame front is different:
- variety of colors and textures (matte, glossy, metallic and others);
- manufacturabilityvarious shapes (wave, arc, etc.);
- resistance to changes in temperature and humidity (for example, heated steam).
Among the shortcomings, one can single out the possibility of color fading in the sun, susceptibility to mechanical damage, difficulties in restoration. In addition, during operation, handprints remain on such a surface.
Film facades
The MDF frame facade covered with PVC film is easy to manufacture. And, accordingly, the price is lower. The film is attached to the plate with special glue under pressure. The main advantages of this type of elements:
- affordable price;
- variety of colors, embossing and textures;
- resistance to chemical detergents;
- durability;
- resistance to mechanical damage;
- ease of care.
This type has its drawbacks. It does not withstand high temperatures (at temperatures above 70 degrees, the film may peel off). Because of this, difficulties may arise during the restoration.
Aluminum frame fronts
Aluminum frame facades are most often made in combination with glass. But this is optional. Other fillers may be used.
Facades with aluminum frames have the following advantages:
- strength;
- moisture and temperature resistance;
- wear resistant;
- long service life;
- metal can be painted any color;
- possibility to use various filling materials.
Like all elements, this type has its drawbacks:
- mechanical damage is clearly visible;
- impossibility of self-repair;
- only certain types of fasteners and handles are used for manufacturing.
Frame facade can be chosen for any kitchen and at any cost. Even inexpensive items will please the eye and last for years.
