Everyone knows that ants are useful insects. Living in the forest, they are of considerable benefit. The same can be said about the ants living on the site. They loosen the earth, arranging their dwelling, destroy various harmful insects, caterpillars. However, ants in the garden can harm cultivated plants by making passages between the roots. In addition, insects feed on aphid milk, so they protect it by spreading this pest throughout the site. Therefore, it is better to destroy ants on the site. Especially if they settled directly in the planted garden.
There are many ways to kill ants, both traditional, folk, and more modern, using special chemicals. Folk remedies do not give an absolute guarantee that the ants in the garden will leave the place they like forever and will not return again. Specialized chemicals are more reliable in this regard, however, when working with them, you should proceed with caution, according to the attached instructions.
Among the folk methods of dealing with ants, there are the following:
- loosened nest of insectssprinkle with lime, table s alt, a mixture of wood ash and red pepper or tobacco dust;
- garden ants do not like strong odors, so you can put the head of smoked herring, chopped garlic, tomato tops, parsley leaves on their settlement;
- you can fill the nest with boiling water with the addition of vegetable oil, a decoction of tomato tops. You can also prepare a solution of water with vegetable oil, vinegar and shampoo. It is necessary to pierce the anthill with a stick in the center and pour the prepared mixture there. After that, it is closed with plastic wrap and aged for several days. Ants in the garden in such conditions will not be able to live and will leave their homes;
- spray insect nest with soot solution or sprinkle with cinnamon, then cover with corrugated cardboard, at least 20 cm wide.
These are the most famous folk methods of insect control. It is also proposed such a method as installing a jar of jam, syrup next to the nest. Ants in the garden get there to feast on sweetness, and they are scalded with boiling water. However, this method is long and requires constant monitoring of the container.
It is worth noting that all these methods will not work, the fight against ants on the site will be meaningless if the uterus remains in the nest. Therefore, the best option is to move it, and the remaining insects will follow it. This method is the most effective, and insects will not be harmed. After all, they are still useful for our nature.
Chemical agents shouldapply only as a last resort. After all, they are harmful not only to ants, but also to plants and the surrounding nature.
