Wallpaper is an integral part of the appearance of our homes. Appearing in ancient times, they served purely practical purposes: they collected grease and soot from candle lighting, and also hid defects and cracks on the roughly finished walls of ancient castles. Without wallpaper, they simply shone godlessly, which did not have a very positive effect on the he alth of the people who lived there. However, in our time it is a purely decorative element of our homes, without which it is almost impossible to imagine a modern house. Since it is not easy to glue non-woven wallpaper correctly, beginners often avoid them, but in vain.
Therefore, one should not be surprised that with the terrible word “repair”, many kilometers of wallpaper stand before their eyes that need to be pasted. However, many do not attach importance to their correct gluing, as a result of which the pasted-over room does not look very attractive. In order to paste wallpaper and as a result get a cozy and ennobledroom, it is important to follow a few rules. In a word, we will figure out how to properly glue non-woven wallpaper!
Immediately we warn you: it is important to read the instructions that come with each roll. Our people still have not said goodbye to a bad habit: they believe that all wallpapers are the same, and therefore there is no need to “bother” with any instructions there. As a result, expensive wallpapers fall off in layers, leaving unlucky "specialists" with mixed feelings and empty wallets.
When we glue non-woven wallpaper, the quality of the glue is very important. It is better to decide on the type of glue and its manufacturer in advance. Modern industry produces paper, vinyl, textile, non-woven, glass, and therefore there are hundreds of varieties of adhesives.
Glue must be selected for the type of wallpaper, and it must be fresh. It is unacceptable to make it “in reserve” or use the stocks remaining from the last repair, since their adhesive ability is often no higher than that of water. Please note that the adhesive for non-woven wallpaper (the price of which is very significant) must be thick enough.
Before gluing, it is important to re-prime the walls to better fix the adhesive to the wall. In addition, the primer closes minor wall defects. So, armed with a container for mixing glue and some of its stock, we start kneading. Slowly, pour the glue into a pre-measured volume of water, carefully stirring the lumps. Next, we determine the vertical level of gluing the first strip on the wall: in the future, the strips are glued according to its level. Note that you should not glue the wallpaper "in a joint", as they will expand and contract over time. Since it is quite difficult to glue non-woven wallpaper correctly, you should not do it in splendid isolation.
Cut off the strips with a margin of 5-7 cm on the unevenness of the wall, be sure to take into account the rapport (observance of the pattern). After that, coat the canvas with glue and fold it in half. It is important not to overexpose it in this position, as paper wallpapers can quickly absorb moisture and tear when pasting. After the canvas is attached to the wall, with gentle movements of a hard brush, we smooth the canvas from the center to the periphery. Remove excess glue with a clean, dry cloth. The height of the canvas on the ceiling and floor is adjustable after it dries. A prerequisite for successful gluing is the absence of a draft.
We hope we helped you with advice on how to properly glue non-woven wallpaper!
