Installation of windows in a wooden house requires a system "casing" or "pigtail". Casing should be understood as a wooden box located between the window and the wall of the house, which is mounted before the window is installed.

Thus, casing is necessary because:

  • its lower part plays the role of a window sill;
  • no need to slant;
  • platband can be fixed quickly and easily;
  • gives additional insulation around the perimeter of the window.

Preparatory work

Before installing wooden windows with your own hands, you need to do some work, namely:

  • Prepare the opening. If the height of the window block exceeds 1000 mm, then the width of the opening is cut 20 mm more than the width of the casing. Otherwise, this indicator is equal to 50 mm.
  • Insert the end key. To do this, you need to cut a groove at the end of the log.
  • Close up the gaps formed between the casing and the window opening. The process of assembling the casing is carried out using self-tapping screws. Further, using the level, the box is installed in the opening andfixed to the dowels and the lower log. The resulting lower and side gaps are sealed with sealant, and the upper space with mineral wool.
  • Install a window block into the casing. In order to protect against weather conditions, a self-expanding vapor-permeable sealing tape is laid around the entire perimeter.
  • Finishing work. At this stage, the installation of windows in a wooden house provides for sealing all the gaps that have arisen between the window block and the casing from the inside. For these purposes, you can use fillets. The resulting space between the walls of the wooden house and the casing is eliminated by installing the casing.

Modern wooden windows

It has long been considered that wood is the safest and most environmentally friendly building material. That is why today houses made of timber, as well as wooden windows, are in great demand among the population. The main benefits are:

  1. Naturality and environmental friendliness. Wood is an environmentally friendly natural material. Installation of windows in a wooden house is carried out from modern wooden specimens. Only carefully selected wood is used for this. Upon completion of the assembly of the window, its frame is treated with a special substance that prevents aging and damage from various pests.

  3. Thermal insulation. Modern wooden windows have low thermal conductivity. The frame of such windows is alwayswarm even when it's freezing outside.
  4. Air exchange. Since wood "breathes", a wooden frame is a guarantee of the natural level of humidity in the house.
  5. Noise isolation. Modern wooden windows tend to have increased sound insulation.
  6. Protection from fire. Everyone knows that wood is a fire-resistant organic raw material. Since the wood retains its strength and does not melt in the fire, the installation of windows in a wooden house implies the installation of modern wooden options. After all, this material does not emit chemical harmful substances during combustion and a so-called "protective layer" is formed on it, preventing the penetration of fire deeper than the upper layer.
  7. Durability. Wood has a long service life. Wooden houses and windows are durable structures that can withstand various temperature extremes.
