Wood remains one of the most popular materials for building houses. And if earlier for the most part they used a log cabin, today many people prefer houses made of timber.
Planning
A house made of 8x8 timber is considered the most suitable option for construction. This size is suitable for a family of 3-4 people throughout the year. The area of the house allows you to spaciously accommodate all family members. This is one of the advantages of buildings of this size.
The second plus is that the 8x8 timber house project includes a large number of windows. Thanks to this, the rooms in the house will not lack sunlight. And this will lead to energy savings.
A standard 8x8 timber house has a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a spacious hall (entrance hall). In addition, cases of arranging a terrace are not uncommon.
A two-story house made of 8x8 timber (or a house with an attic) is popular. The second floor increases the living area. This allows the bedroom to move to the second floor. Exceptof this, children's rooms and offices are usually arranged upstairs. Another option is to arrange a guest room on the ground floor or a large living room combined with a dining room.
Material selection
Beam can be of several types:
-
Glued laminated timber compares favorably with other lumber. Compliance with the production technology makes it possible to obtain a material of the required size with the correct geometric shape, which does not shrink and does not warp. This type is distinguished by improved qualities in terms of thermal insulation, breathability and tightness. Glued laminated timber is produced by gluing dried boards together. Along the edges, a tongue-and-groove fastening system is provided. Due to this, the bars are connected without gaps and cracks. This allows you to save on insulation. A house made of 8x8 timber will have an attractive appearance that does not need additional cladding. This can save you extra money.
- Bar of natural moisture is common due to its low cost. It has a significant drawback: due to high humidity (up to 80%), shrinkage occurs. As a result, cracks will appear within a year or two after construction.
- Profiled timber is a better quality material. It is produced with high precision. Houses made of 8x8 profiled timber are therefore easy to assemble and do not take much time. The outside of the house does not require finishing.
Construction
A house made of 8x8 timber begins to be built, like all buildings, with the construction of the foundation. Most often, this is a strip foundation made of concrete with a depth of up to 70 cm. This choice is due to the relatively low weight of wooden beams. A layer of waterproofing is laid on top of the foundation so that the beams do not absorb moisture from the concrete. The lowest crown is made larger in width, as it will support the weight of the walls and roof. Next, the building is erected with the help of pegs (dowels). In the case of a profiled beam, the grooves are simply connected.
Logs for laying the floor are mounted in the first row. A rough floor is laid on them. Further thermal and waterproofing. And only then - the final floor.
Door and window openings are provided already in the process of assembling the walls. The shape of the walls is kept with the help of special frames - casings. As the walls are built, the internal walls are also built.
Ceilings are laid on the finished walls. The roof is being built next.
