After building your own home, you need to deal with many other issues, one of which is connecting a private house to the power grid. Not a single building can be called fully habitable if it does not have heat, light and water, and that is why even at the construction stage all kinds of engineering communications should be laid, the operation of which directly depends on the connection to external highways.
For the most part, the troubles here are due to the fact that most people simply do not know how to connect to the power grid of a private house, in particular, not everyone understands where exactly you need to go, as well as what documents to prepare and introduce. Among other things, there is a rather vague understanding of the timing of various works and their total cost, therefore, in order not to become dependent on the mood of some regular official, it is best to figure out in advance what regulations regulate the organization and conduct of such events.
What you need to know?
Without going into the details of howconnection to the power grids of a private house is being carried out, which only professional specialists can understand, there are several main points that any ordinary consumer who decides to connect to the central power supply should remember.
All the features of this procedure are specified in sufficient detail in Rules No. 861, approved by the government back in 2007. In particular, it talks in sufficient detail about how a private house should be connected to the power grid, in particular, the technologies for this procedure are considered. To begin with, the energy supply company must conclude a special agreement with the owner, according to which energy will be supplied, and it must be concluded regardless of whether it has such an opportunity at the moment.
Before you look for a telephone from the mains, you should consider that this rule only applies if, in total, all electrical devices installed in your home will not consume more than 15 kW, since this list includes and any "objects" that have previously connected to this attachment point.
In this case, this power can be 20 kW, if from the border of your site to the nearest connection point in a straight line:
- no more than 500 meters in rural areas;
- no more than 300 meters in urban areas.
Where should I go?
First you will need to find out the phone number of the power supply network that supplies energy in your area. Mostan easy way to find out this information is to ask your neighbors or call your local government.
It often happens that the site is located on the border of the distributed areas of responsibility of two suppliers. In this case, the connection in your house will have to be carried out by the company to whose facilities (substation, poles or some other property) you are closest.
How to do it?
In order to connect a rural house or other types of private property to the power grid, you will need to file an application with the relevant company, and indicate the following in it:
- Passport data. It is possible to enter them from some other document proving your identity (for example, from rights), but it is better to coordinate this with your company in advance.
- The exact address of the facility that will be connected to the supply network. For example, you can specify the exact address where your rural house is located
- The complete list of devices that will be connected, as well as their total power in "kW".
- Date in which you plan to complete the design, as well as put into operation the connected equipment. This information can be clarified with the installation or design company.
Additional documents
In addition to the application itself, the power supply organization may require you to provide an additional list of documents, namely:
- Passport or any other document you specified in the application.
- Proof of ownership of the home.
- Identification number.
- Load calculation.
- A complete list of all the devices you are going to connect to the mains, including an indication of the power of each of them.
- Plot plan, which will show all the places where the connected objects are located. It is worth noting that this diagram should outline not only the territory of the house itself, but also the adjacent area on which this or that object is located, and where the connection procedure will be carried out. This is required in order to determine how far your property boundary is from a particular power facility.
If the documents are submitted not by the owner, but by his representative, the energy supply organization must also receive a power of attorney certified in advance by a specialized notary office. Based on this application, the issuance of the technical conditions under which the project will be developed is carried out later.
Timing
Introducing electricity into the house includes a lot of different stages, for each of which a certain period is provided, namely:
- Issuance of technical specifications - no more than one month.
- Connection, carried out on the basis of the submitted application - no more than six months from the moment the contract was concluded with the organization. This period also includes the fulllaying various communications, including cables, if connected from any substation, and installing additional poles, if air connection is used in your case.
- No more than three days are allotted for various installation work related to connecting all the necessary equipment.
It often happens that the total distance between the connection point and the border exceeds the specified, that is, more than 300 or even 500 meters. In this case, the supplier has up to two years to lay the line, but at the same time, payment for all work will be calculated at an individual rate, which, accordingly, exceeds the standard one. If desired, the client can speed up the introduction of electricity into the house, but all work in this case will also be carried out exclusively at his expense. All these issues are best addressed on an individual basis, as each company puts forward its own requirements and features of the provision of services.
Cost
District electrical networks are available to all people living near them at a price of no more than 550 rubles per connection, if the total estimated energy consumption does not exceed 15 kW. In other words, if the application indicates a power of no more than 15 kW, then in this case no one has the right to demand all kinds of additional payments from the owner.
Such situations, of course, are not so frequent, but from time to time it happens that the company that owns the district electrical networks informs the owner of the house that for certain work it will be necessary to pay extra separately. There can be a variety of explanations for such requirements - the complexity of any procedures, the need for the construction of additional structures, the increase in the technological capabilities of the installed equipment, and a number of other situations. In any case, you must remember that all these requirements are illegal, and any such problems do not apply to you in any way if your house meets the requirements, that is, it is at the right distance from the connection point and does not exceed the declared capacity.

If your case requires a non-standard connection, the list of documents can be slightly changed. Some organizations provide the opportunity to change the standard package of documents in ordinary cases, so it is best to discuss this issue on an individual basis. Within the framework of the all-Russian legislation, the regional authorities have the right to make any additions, taking into account local conditions, and in addition, there are also many departmental documents clarifying various provisions.
If the equipment, which includes a home electrical connection scheme, was not installed within the specified time frame (which happens quite often), the owner has the right to file a formal claim in writing. However, it should be said right away that this issue has many subtleties, so it is best to enlist the support of a qualified lawyer in advance. Suppliers with whom the contract was concluded forconnection may be given for a variety of reasons, such as lack of funding, problems with the labor force, or some other, but in fact they all have nothing to do with the owner. There is an agreement that was not fulfilled due to the fault of the company, and experienced lawyers can often manage the case in such a way as to ultimately recover compensation for moral damages, which can be quite decent in some cases.
It is best to order a connection project from the company that will carry out the connection procedure. All organizations that do not carry out illegal connection are often dissatisfied with the fact that such documents are developed by third parties, so various difficulties may arise as a result. Competent specialists, if desired, in any case, will be able to find how to “pick up” a non-professional in this area. At the very least, by ordering such papers from this organization, you can save your own time and nerves while negotiating, since hardly anyone will find fault with their own document.
Unauthorized cable entry into the house is fraught with extremely serious consequences. If such interference is noticed by the relevant organization, among other problems, they will issue you a well-founded invoice for a large amount, which will take a long time to pay.
How to connect energy in the country?
If you are an official member of a non-profit gardening association, onmeeting of which it was decided to connect "dacha electricity", an authorized representative is appointed who will, in the interests of all members of the community, figure out how to arrange the connection to the power grids of a private house of each of the participants.
What will he have to do?
To begin with, they submit a complete list of documents, which includes the following:
- application to connect your partnership to the electricity grid;
- plan showing the layout of any power receivers belonging to CNT members;
- copies of the necessary documents confirming ownership of various plots and houses;
- a copy of the officially issued decision of the general meeting of the SNT on concluding a technological connection agreement with the organization;
- copy of the charter of SNT.
After that, within 30 days, the grid organization must draw up and send a draft technical connection agreement, as well as technical conditions that must be met by consumers within its section. The total period of validity of the technical specifications for the applicant must be more than two years.
If all the terms of the drawn up technological connection agreement fully comply with the requirements of the current legislation, then the chairman must sign it within the next 30 days, returning one of the copies to the network company. If some norms do not comply, a motivatedrefusal to sign the paper of the network organization, which after that will have five days to eliminate these comments.
After the final signing of the contract, SNT must comply with all specified technical conditions. In particular, at the expense of the members of this community, a transformer substation, all kinds of power lines and other necessary equipment are being built on the territory, while the grid company will organize the work to the borders of the SNT.
Tariffs in this case are standard - no more than 550 rubles for each of the participants, if they consume less than 15 kW. The only thing worth noting in this case is that for each of the members the total connection price may increase and the cost of the costs required to build a power line within the SNT itself, since such construction is not included in the obligations of the network company.
The timing of such accession
The total period of technological connection should not exceed:
- 6 months, if in total all SNT members consume no more than 100 kW, and the total distance from the community boundaries to the nearest network organization facilities is less than 300 meters in urban areas and 500 meters in rural areas.
- 12 months if the above conditions are not met, but the total power consumption is less than 750 kVA.
- 24 months if the total power consumption is more than 750 kVA. In this case, the investment program of the grid company may also provide for other termstechnological connection, but in any case they should not exceed four years.
After the technological connection, the grid company must draw up and transfer to the consumer an act delimiting the balance sheet ownership of the parties, as well as their operational responsibility. Together with this document, a technological connection act is provided, and all documentation is issued absolutely free of charge.
When all activities related to technological connection are completed, SNT will have to conclude an energy supply contract with a supplier of last resort.
