House books appeared in the 18th century. They were compiled and maintained by private bailiffs of police stations in each part of the city and belonged to the administrative record document. Already at that time, with the help of such a document, one or another person could be found.

There are two types of extract from the house book:
- Plain. It contains only information about the persons registered in the premises for the current date.

For the issuance of an extract from the house register, the fee is not defined by law (at the federal level). It can be set by the local government.
Expiresextracts are not formally stipulated and depend on the requirements of a particular organization to which it is provided. Usually it is from two weeks to one month.
