Acid-resistant tiles have unique qualities. It is able to act as a reliable protection of surfaces from their interaction with chemically active aggressive compounds. After cladding, the base acquires stable protection against elevated temperatures. Such tiles are often used when it is necessary to finish structures that are in conditions of constant temperature changes. This material can be used both in domestic and industrial premises, where walls or floors can come into contact with acids or alkalis.

Preparatory work

If acid-resistant tiles are laid in industrial premises, then it is worth using a material that has an increased acid resistance index (up to 98%). Initially, a layer resistant to aggressive effects should be created. In the role of its binder, it is recommended to use liquid glass. Fillers for acid-resistant mixtures are prepared using rocks of the appropriate action such as andesite, marshalite or others, which contain silica.

In solutions and mastics, the density of liquid glass should beequal to 1.38g/cm3 or more. The base before work is cleaned, dried and covered with a primer. Laying of acid-resistant tiles should not begin before the reverse side of the tile has been coated with an acid-resistant compound. The solution should not be laid in an excessively thick layer - no more than 10-15 millimeters, the seams should also be as thin as possible. The grout can be prepared independently by using sulfur cement. The floor surface should not be moistened, otherwise the liquid glass will dissolve.

Installation of acid-resistant tiles

Acid-resistant tiles must be laid on a level surface, which is especially important for floors that will be affected by aggressive compounds. After all, if the floor is uneven, then harmful substances will accumulate in certain places. Leveling at home can be done by laying a screed. It is recommended to start laying the elements either from the center of the room, or from the far corner in relation to the doorway. In this case, you should use a level, which will allow you to control the horizontal position of the finish.

You will have to use a wooden mallet to help set each item in its final location. The crosses will control the width of the seams. It is important to choose the right adhesive before starting work. It should also be particularly resistant to aggressive environments and to non-standard mechanical loads.

Acid-resistant tiles during laying must be cleaned of drops of glue that can get intoon the surface of the products, otherwise it will be quite difficult to get rid of the composition after it dries. A few days after the installation of the tiles is completed, you can proceed to the grouting process. The mixture for this must also have the qualities of durability, because the durability of the entire coating will depend on how well the seams are protected. For this stage, you can use the composition with which the installation was carried out.

Advantages of Ceramic Acid Resistant Tile

Ceramic acid-resistant tiles are not slippery at all. Massive production equipment, as well as heavy machinery, can be installed on the surface of this material, which makes products of this kind indispensable in workshop conditions. Exposure to temperatures does not cause the finish to change its original dimensions. And if it is necessary to make the floor sanitary safe, acid-resistant tiles should be used. This allows the use of such a coating in rooms intended for the pharmaceutical or food industry. In addition, ceramic acid-resistant tiles are very easy to clean.

Tools and materials

It will be impossible to carry out the laying of the described tiles without the use of some tools and materials, among them the following should be highlighted:

  • notched trowel;
  • glue;
  • grout;
  • wooden hammer;
  • level.

Cost of acid-resistant tiles

The described material may have different sizes, which also affects the final price. For example, acid-resistant tiles (GOST 961-89), the dimensions of which are limited to 300 x 300 x 20 mm, will cost 440 rubles. for 1 m2, but a square meter of acid-resistant fireclay products costs 520 rubles

Acid-resistant coating has many advantages, but it is more expensive than ordinary tiles. Therefore, before purchasing this finishing option, it is necessary to decide whether it is necessary to create a stable base if it is not subjected to serious loads, because it is not advisable to overpay in this case.
