A sliding partition is a useful and effective find for a designer, using which you can simulate space, creating isolated rooms or hiding a kitchen or bedroom for a while.
Unlike sliding doors, partitions have large dimensions of canvases. Their width exceeds 1800 mm, and the height is usually more than 2300 mm. The sliding partition is designed strictly individually and is completed at the factory - unlike the door, which can be modified after purchase by equipping it with a roller mechanism.
Purposes of use:
- closing a wide opening;
- dividing the room into separate parts;
- create multiple isolated rooms.
The sliding partition is easily installed in a renovated apartment, its placement does not need to be coordinated with the housing inspection and changes to the BTI plan are also not required.
The product is made to order only. The client must first familiarize himself with the assortment in the catalog and choose the model he likes.
Movement mechanisms
The mechanism is hidden in a niche or behind a screen, but its importance for the design is very high, as it ensures smooth running and reliability. Two systems are known. This is an "accordion" and suspension on rollers.
Roller suspension mechanism
Consists of rollers and pencil case. The roller mechanism has the required diameter and rolling bearings, thanks to which the entire structure moves easily and withstands heavy loads. Different lines of rollers are designed for different loads, so they are selected depending on the material and weight of the canvas, otherwise the mechanism will quickly fail. This system has such a disadvantage as swinging the lower, not fixed, part of the sliding partition. To eliminate the disadvantage, they use devices such as flags (which are installed in the lower end), staples on the bottom of the sash, rollers on springs for more reliable adhesion to the floor, synchronizers for the simultaneous movement of all canvases.
Sliding partitions "accordion"
This mechanism combines hinged and sliding opening systems. The sashes with the wall jamb and are connected to each other by means of hinges. The upper part of the lintel is equipped with guides along which the sliding partition moves with the help of rollers.
The disadvantage of this system is poor soundproofing. It can be corrected by applying noise-absorbing pads and brush seals.
Partition design
The sliding partition is equipped with a canvas consistingfrom a frame and sheet material. For the frame, steel, aluminum, wood (oak, beech) are most often used. The filling material is chipboard (veneered or laminated). Sliding glass partitions can be tinted, decorative, photo printed or mirrored. The performance style can also be any (at the customer's choice).
Classic are frames made of aluminum profiles or multi-layered wood. For filling - patterned glass or chipboard. Art Deco - glass of bright colors, which is combined with the technique of stained glass and photo printing techniques. Ethnic style - wood frame. Filling material - rattan weaving or noble fabric. Sliding partition in the style of minimalism - these are simple or tinted glass canvases without a frame, devoid of any decor.
