Over the past decades, the construction industry has received particularly widespread development, and this is primarily due to the fact that the country has undergone a reorientation of the construction industry as a whole. It's not a secret for anyone that in our time, multi-storey standard houses are being built less and less often, as it once happened with Khrushchevs, and even earlier with Stalins. Despite this, materials have remained in construction since that time to this day, which, due to their excellent thermal and physical indicators, as well as properties, are becoming the most in demand in most buildings and structures under construction.
Steel and steel products
One of these materials is steel, which, despite its relatively light weight (average density=7860 kg / cubic meter), has all the necessary characteristics for capital construction. This article will focus on such a variety of steel products as rolled steel profiles. In particular, the metal corner will be considered
So what is this?
Metal corner is one of the types of rolled profiles. It is widely used in construction. Externally, the metal corner is an L-shaped beam, which can be made of various types of steel.
Classification of corners
This type of profile has its own characteristics, due to which they have their own classification. For example, according to the type of section of the corners, they can be divided into 2 types: equal-shelf and unequal-shelf. As can be seen from the name itself, the equal-shelf corner shelves are equal in size, but the unequal-shelf metal corners have different sizes. The width of the corner shelf can range from 20 to 200 millimeters, and the length, in turn, varies from 4 to 12 meters.
In the photo below you can see an equal-shelf metal corner. Its design is as simple as possible.
And here is an unequal metal corner:
According to the manufacturing method, these elements are divided into the following:
- Hot-rolled (a process in which the finished product is rolled by means of rotating shafts, as a result of which it is given the necessary shape). Hot-rolled angles are the most popular, especially when it comes to the construction of multi-storey monolithic structures (they serve as the basis for rigid reinforcement), residential buildings and large building structures.
- Bent (these views are obtained through the use of a special profile bending machine). These corners are not used as part ofsupporting structure, but only in cases where there is no need to resist increased loads, as well as a high level of strength and reliability.
To increase strength and resistance to external influences, the metal corner can be subjected to a galvanizing process.
Conclusion
The modern market offers all potential customers a metal corner, the dimensions of which depend on the grade of steel used in its manufacture. As a rule, the data are given in the corresponding table (depending on the linear size of the corner - data on its mass, density and footage).
