Usually inexperienced self-taught builders are most concerned about the question of how to lay tiles on the floor or walls. As a rule, many of them have minimal experience in facing work, however, high-quality tiling requires much more knowledge than it seems at first glance.
It is easy to learn how to lay tiles correctly from the pages of special literature, which is more than enough in print and electronic form. However, within the framework of this article, we will try to consider the basics of this undertaking, and certainly taking into account the various configuration features of a particular tile. Before proceeding to the direct development of tiling technology, you need to decide on the range of necessary tools and materials. You will need:
- tile;
- adhesive mixture;
- water;
- trowel;
- spatula;
- primer;
- paint roller and tray;
- a large bucket of 30-40 liters (preferably metal);
- notched trowel;
- perforator (drill) with mixer nozzle;
- Bulgarian;
- tile cutter;
- crosses for tile joints;
- mash mix.
Before laying tiles, you must carefully prepare the surface. It is necessary to perform such work on leveled walls, and if there is significant curvature on the floor, you will have to make a screed. Many do not pay attention to the preparatory stage, which helps to get rid of the overspending of expensive tile adhesive and significantly improve the quality of the masonry. Following leveling, it is necessary to clean the surface of litter and dust, after which it should be carefully primed.
How to lay tiles further? It is more logical to start laying from the walls, making a small indent from the floor. If it will be covered with tiles or other material, then it is necessary to take into account the thickness of the future coating. It is recommended to use a flat rail of the appropriate size for indentation, which will allow you to maintain the required distance around the entire perimeter and prevent the tiles from sliding. Pre-marking is also a good solution.
Having prepared the tile adhesive, it is necessary to apply it evenly on the technical (rear) side of the finishing material with the even side of a notched double-sided trowel. With the serrated side, you need to remove excess glue, trying to do this without a slope. Having outlined a place for the tile, it is necessary to attach it to the surface and press it carefully. Do not forget that it is imperative to lay tiles using a building level and special crosses for seams.
The tiles are laid on the floor in the same way. After a few days, you can proceed directly to the grouting. The construction market today presents a wide variety of materials designed for this purpose, and therefore there will be no question of choice.
