Most recently, an exotic, little-known berry called sambury appeared in our front gardens. It is often confused with blueberries, paying attention to some external resemblance. But in fact, it is a close relative of tomatoes, sweet peppers, physalis and potatoes. Sambury is a berry that belongs to the nightshade family. Its healing and dietary properties are now appreciated in Russia.

Brought this type of famous breeder at the beginning of the 20th century. Having crossed two different wild nightshades, he got the expected result - an unpretentious, large-fruited, green giant. Blossoms with berries, 10 pieces each, gracefully hang from a tetrahedral stem. He called his brainchild a solar berry. Samberi blooms and ripens constantly until the end of autumn. It can only be consumed when it is completely ripe. Having received high yields, unpretentiousness in cultivation, and an unusual taste from the progenitors, samberi - "Soltsna berry" - gradually began to reclaim space in post-Soviet garden plots. Fruits the size of large cherries, similar to small tomatoes, are used by housewives to make jams, preserves or fillings for baked pies. berry sambury(photo above) is successfully harvested for the winter. Before canning, to get rid of the taste inherent in nightshade, you should scald it and let it stand for about 5 minutes.

Although many gardeners have learned that a delicious samberi (berry) has appeared, they still do not know how to grow it. There are also few specialists familiar with the proper care of her. It is known that the seedling method of cultivation is used. Sowing is carried out in prepared land from February to April. With the onset of stable heat, it is planted in open ground at a distance of 70 cm from each other. This cultivated nightshade reaches 1.5 meters in height. Nitrogen fertilizers are limited. Ripening brushes press the plant to the ground. It is necessary to prevent contact of fruits with the soil. To do this, it is enough to lay boards or mulch the ground with dry straw, humus, last year's sawdust. You can tie stepchildren to a support in the same way as tomatoes.

The fruits ripen gradually, like tomatoes. Harvest is harvested until autumn. In total, about a bucket is obtained from a bush. Samberi is a berry that is tolerant of the first frosts. When they occur, it is necessary not to allow the plant to bloom anymore and set fruits. This accelerates the ripening process of an existing crop. It is worth carrying out such manipulations starting from September.

If whole sambury bushes are plucked before the onset of frost and stored indoors at about 20 ° C in a suspended state, the fruits can be eaten for a very long time. Gradually ripening over several months, they will delight with their unusual taste. Samberi is a berry that can be consumed in large quantities, it is not poisonous at all, although it belongs to the nightshade family.

Since the plant is an annual, seed material will have to be harvested every year. It is better to take it from the first brushes, which are the largest and most prolific. This is a guarantee that next season will please with a bountiful harvest.
