In order to lay the parquet floor in the room with high quality, it is necessary to choose the right adhesive for its laying. It is the adhesive composition that determines the quality, integrity and duration of the floor covering.
Requirements for parquet adhesive
When buying parquet glue, special attention should be paid to the basic requirements for such a composition:
- Parquet adhesive must be durable and perform its functions for many years.
- The product used must have a good "set" and at the same time have sufficient elasticity.
- High-quality parquet adhesive should not shrink the floor, as this can lead to creaking.
- The composition should not contain a lot of water, as is often the case in cheap and low-quality adhesives or fakes. Excessive moisture will adversely affect wood flooring and may warp.
- The glue used must be safe and not contain harmful solvents and other toxic substances, which, after laying the parquet, will poison the air for a long time.
One component adhesive
Parquet glue is one- and two-component. One-component adhesive composition goes on sale in a ready-to-use form. Depending on its basis, it can be:
- water-dispersion;
- solvent-based;
- polyurethane;
- silane.
Dispersion parquet adhesive
This is an environmentally friendly material. It is based on water. When the mixture solidifies, the vapors emitted are completely harmless, non-toxic, without strong odors.
The use of water-based parquet adhesive has some limitations: it is mainly used for strip parquet and plywood sheets. Boards can only be glued to those that are not very sensitive to moisture.
The benefits of water-based formulations include:
- elasticity;
- high adhesive power;
- affordable price;
- no harsh odors;
- glue does not dry for a long time in an open jar.
Solvent based parquet adhesive
This is the most commonly used parquet floor adhesive and is suitable for all types of wood. It is made from synthetic resins and a solvent. The hardening of parquet adhesive occurs due to the evaporation of the solvent. When working with such tools, you must carefully follow the rulesfire safety, ventilate the room, because the composition is toxic. Solvent-based parquet glue dries for about 3-5 days.
Key Benefits:
- high quality;
- good elasticity and fluidity;
- affordable price;
- versatility, can be used for any parquet.
It has a strong odor and is not strong enough to stick large boards.
Polyurethane one-component adhesive
Very durable compound designed for laying all types of coatings on concrete, cement and anhydrite substrates in high traffic areas. Can be used for arranging "warm floors". Complete curing of the adhesive occurs in a day.
Silane parquet adhesive
This is a new generation product, made without water. It has high strength and elasticity, does not cause deformation of wood, is easily cleaned from the surface, does not stick to fingers. Can be used on any wood flooring. Environmentally friendly product resistant to extreme temperature fluctuations.
Two-component parquet glue
The composition is also called reactive, since it does not contain either water or solvents, bonding occurs due to a chemical reaction. Components, one of which is a hardener, must be mixed before use.
Two-component parquet glue has a number of advantages: it can be used for gluing parquet to any base, it is highly durable andfreezes in a day.
The disadvantage of such products is that they contain substances that are very harmful to he alth. After hardening, the glue is completely safe. Another drawback is the rather high price.
Examples of two-component adhesives for parquet
"Bostik" is well known to many decorators. "Bostik" is an international company, which is one of the leaders in the production of adhesive materials used in construction. The principle and strategy of the manufacturer is the environmental friendliness of all products and strict quality control.
Two-component parquet adhesive "BOSTIC TARBICOL PU 2K NEW" is used for laying all types of parquet on any substrate: wood (birch, hornbeam, beech, bamboo, etc.), end wood, wood with increased density, untreated or varnished parquet, parquet board, mosaic board. The composition is distinguished by good adhesion to all types of bases, resistance to high and low temperatures (−20°С - +120 °С), moisture resistance. The glue does not deform the wood, because it does not contain water. The tool is light, easy to apply with a spatula. Can be used on heated floors.
Two-component parquet adhesive Adesiv Pelpren PL6
Designed for bonding all types of wood floors to cement substrates or pre-existing non-porous floors(tile, marble, wood, cement-sand screed, marble mosaic floor, etc.).
Used for gluing all types of parquet (including exotic woods). Can be used for underfloor heating.
Two-component parquet adhesive "Bona P-778"
The adhesive does not contain water or any organic solvents. Hardens by chemical reaction, does not shrink. The adhesive can be used to fix wood species sensitive to swelling to the base. Suitable for screed and cement floors, anhydride screeds, leveling cement mixtures with a minimum thickness of 2 mm, chipboard and plywood.
Glue parquet two-component "Parketoff" (Parketoff PU-2000)
The adhesive composition is designed for laying all types of parquet (including block, piece, artistic, panel), as well as massive boards. In addition, this high-quality parquet adhesive can be used for laying parquet boards, laminates on hygroscopic (concrete, cement, anhydrite, etc.) and non-hygroscopic (ceramic tiles, metal or stone floors) substrates. The composition does not include water and solvents. The adhesive is suitable for rooms with a high load, for underfloor heating, has high penetrating properties, good spreadability. Not recommended for use at temperatures below 15°C and relative humidity above 65%.
