Do-it-yourself repair contributes to significant cash savings. But this saving is not always justified by the good quality of self-performed work, such as replacing flooring, redevelopment, wall decoration, installation of a cascading ceiling, and even installing sockets. This is not surprising, because a person does not every year face repairs in his apartment, therefore, there is nowhere to take experience. And the companies that carry out repair work have experienced qualified workers in their staff, who, unfortunately, will not work for free. Therefore, not having enough money, many apartment owners carry out repairs on their own.
Where does the installation of sockets begin
When it comes to a major overhaul, you should pay attention to the condition of the electrical wiring and decide on a possible replacement. If its condition does not meet the technical requirements, then the wiring must be replaced. The process of replacing the wiring itself is not as complicated as installing electrical outlets. The thing is that the wiring is hidden from the eyes of a person, but improperly installed sockets can ruina new interior or have a location that is inconvenient for their operation. Therefore, in order for the quality of work on the installation of electrical outlets to meet all the requirements, you should not rush and install them, as they say, by eye.
Installation of sockets begins with precise marking of the surface of the walls in the places of their future location. Based on the places determined for the sockets, wiring is laid from the junction box at the entrance to the room to future sockets.
Install into walls
Currently, mortise sockets are used for residential installations, so a hole in the wall is required for the socket box. The socket box is designed directly for mounting the socket itself. To install it, using a special round crown with victorious teeth and a puncher, a hole is made in the wall.
If the wall is concrete, then before using the crown, it is necessary to drill a dozen holes with a puncher in the place reserved for the socket. This will make it easier for the crown to work and prevent the possibility of breaking the teeth, which sometimes happens when the walls are made of quality concrete. The socket box is securely fixed in the hole with asbestos mortar and further installation of sockets is a simple installation. To do this, the ends of the wires (not less than ten centimeters) brought out through the socket box are connected to the socket contacts and fixed in the socket box.
Install into drywall
When it is necessary to install sockets in drywall, you need to make holes in it for socket boxes in advance. Since drywall is a soft material, holes can be made even with a regular knife.
Socket boxes specially designed for installation in partitions and hollow walls are mounted in the holes. Their difference from the usual ones lies in the fact that they have special clamping screws on the sides, which securely fasten the socket box to the plasterboard walls with the help of metal petals. Otherwise, the installation of sockets is the same as when installing in the walls - with the only difference that drywall is much easier to work with than concrete walls.
