Having completed the rack ceiling with your own hands, you can transform the room beyond recognition. However, in most cases, the installation of such structures is resorted to in the design of bathrooms, sanitary facilities and pools. Such ceilings have taken their place in the construction market due to moisture resistance, long service life, relatively low weight and ease of installation.
In fact, a slatted false ceiling consists of metal or plastic elements. It assumes the presence of a special system for fixing planks made of a particular material.
In principle, it is quite possible to assemble a rack ceiling with your own hands, but first you have to spend time going to the store, and just before that, you should make accurate measurements of the room. If the number of corners exceeds four, then it is recommended to purchase an additional support rail, otherwise installation is unlikely to be possible. After purchasing the product, you need to make sure that all the components are present in full, otherwise it will not be easy to prove something later.
So let's do itdo-it-yourself rack ceiling. And let's start with the markup. First of all, you need to understand at what level to lower the structure. If at the same time it is supposed to use spotlights, then we add another two or three centimeters to the desired height.
If there are no mentioned bulbs, it is better not to lower the ceiling borders below 100 - 150 mm. Using a pencil and a level, a horizontal line is marked on the wall surface around the entire perimeter. Next, a support rail is installed, which in most cases has a large length. If necessary, it can be cut with scissors for metal. Bearing elements should be removed from the edges of the wall by about 25 - 30 centimeters.
We continue to assemble the rack ceiling with our own hands. Now we need to fix the iron bars with hangers. After that, you can proceed to fixing the panels on the finished structure. The measurement is taken from the edge of the wall to the end of the profile installed opposite. If the length is longer, you risk ruining the metal element. After cutting off a few panels and profiles, installation can begin. The edge of the first component is inserted into a special groove of the end profile, after which it is inserted into the groove of the other and fixed in the carrier rail. After the second element, an intermediate profile is installed between them.
By the way, the aluminum rack ceiling is mounted in the same way. It should be noted that in rare cases the panel lies tightly on the end profile. This unfortunate situation can be correctedinserting between them (from the inside) a two-centimeter segment of the intermediate profile. Particular attention will have to be paid to the last panel. It can be considered luck if it is to be fixed intact. Otherwise, you will need to spend a sufficient amount of time. To measure and place the last element, you need to cut off the previous one by attaching an intermediate profile.
