Water supply solenoid valves (also called "solenoid") are a small electromechanical device and are designed to open and close hot or cold water flow circuits. What is their design and where are they used? Find out the answers to all these and many other questions from our today's article.

Device

The electrovalve for water consists of two main functional units: an electromagnet (solenoid) and a valve with a through hole. In this case, the solenoid is equipped with a special piston, which is also called the "core". The second functional unit is installed on the disk in order to block or open the water flow. The valve of the device can change its position only by the movement of the core drawn into the solenoid.

Where does it apply?

It should be noted that electrovalves can be used in a wide variety of areas: in the gas supply system, air conditioning, ventilation, as well as in steam condensate. In our case, this device is used in the water supply system, which determines itsname for water. Why is it so in demand in the economy and industry? Because with the help of a solenoid valve, it is possible to remotely control the supply of the required volume of liquid (or gas) at one time or another. Often, these devices ensure the normal operation of boiler facilities, and in everyday life they dose, mix and supply the necessary water flows.

Working algorithm

The water solenoid valve has the following working principle:

  1. An electric current is applied to a special electromagnetic coil.
  2. The magnetic core is drawn into the solenoid.
  3. As a result, the valve opens or closes. Thus, the flow of water flows freely or, conversely, is blocked in the hydraulic supply system.

It should be noted that on almost all devices of this type, the core is placed inside a special closed tube. This is done so that during the flow, water does not penetrate into the electromechanical system of the valve and thereby does not provoke a short circuit and subsequent failure of the mechanism.

Material

The main material from which the electrovalve for water is made is forged brass or stainless steel. The latter is most often used in devices that interact with aggressive agents, acids and food products. Brass is used to supply ordinary water without the addition of special substances. At the same time, the design of this mechanism includes a specialheat-resistant epoxy resin that allows the device to regulate the flow of water and steam at temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius.

Solenoid valve for water: price

The cost of such a device is on average from 3 to 5 thousand rubles per unit. The price of some devices can reach 10 thousand rubles, but such models, due to their high cost, are rarely used in the field of water supply.
