Universal glass adhesive designed to work with various materials. It allows you to connect glass surfaces together, glue glass with stone, metal, rubber, wood. It can be used to repair mirrors, as well as damaged laminated car windows.
Glue is produced on the basis of oligourethane methacrylates, and in appearance it is a colorless, homogeneous, low-viscosity, transparent liquid that is capable of photopolymerization. The setting time of the surfaces to be joined is about 30-70 seconds.
UV glue for glass and metal does not require processing of materials before gluing. According to technology, it is enough to walk on the surface with a glass cleaner. When hardened, a durable polymer layer is formed, which is transparent, colorless and moisture resistant. In addition, it provides reliability in harsh environments.vibration and has sufficient tensile strength. Operating temperature varies from minus 40 to plus 150 degrees.
Glass adhesive: choice of material
When choosing which components to bond, keep in mind that different joints will end up with different strengths.
Glass on metal (stainless steel), glass on granite, wood (hardwood), corrugated and sandblasted glass are the most durable.
Glass adhesive: surface preparation
The material to be joined must have an absolutely clean, dry surface free from grease. For cleaning, use a glass cleaner based on isopropyl alcohol. To obtain a stable, durable connection, it is necessary to heat the materials to be joined before gluing to a temperature that will exceed room temperature by 30 degrees. This will remove condensate. Heating is carried out evenly and slowly, avoiding the appearance of internal stresses in the joint. Failure to comply with these conditions may lead to loss of strength, including the destruction of the connection.
Glass adhesive (transparent): application
Before use, check again how the connected parts will be positioned with each other. The adhesive must be applied within five minutes of heating. It is recommended to apply a uniform thin layer. Excessive amount of it, as well as the presence of bubbles, will reduce the strength of the connection and require the removal of excess substance.
Adhesive with medium viscosity must be applied before joining materials, and with low viscosity, due to capillary activity, it is able to independently penetrate into the gaps of the joints, so surfaces can be bonded before applying the adhesive. It is worth considering: the smoother the surfaces to be fastened, the smaller the adhesive layer will be, the stronger the connection will be.
To complete the bonding, a 45 watt UV lamp is required, which, after applying the adhesive, should be irradiated at the gluing site. This procedure is carried out within 20 - 70 seconds, while the lamp must be placed as close as possible to the surfaces to be glued.
