Plastic pipes of large diameters are specially made plastic products with a cross section of 500 to 2400 mm, which have great rigidity. They are mainly used in the laying of pipelines for sewerage or heating systems in industry. A large-diameter plastic pipe will soon replace all existing concrete and metal pipes.
These products can be made from materials such as:
- PVC;
- polyethylene;
- polybutene;
- polypropylene.
The most reliable is a large-diameter plastic pipe made of polypropylene. Products made from this material are mainly used in hot and cold water supply.
By the way, large diameter plastic pipe has its advantages, which should be noted,namely, resistance to corrosion, various ruptures and pressure surges and low thermal conductivity. In addition, these products are the cheapest.
But, in addition to the advantages, a large-diameter plastic pipe has its own certain disadvantages. It is unstable to ultraviolet radiation. It is also worth considering that when laying such pipes in open ground, insulation is required.
With regard to the installation of this product, it can be noted here that this process requires high connection rates. Since the pipes have a large diameter, this often causes some difficulties. There are two mounting methods here, namely detachable and one-piece.
In the first option, if necessary, you can disassemble some elements, for example, if a pipe section breaks.
In the second case, after welding, these segments become one. This method is used exclusively in industry, again due to the large diameter of the products. This type of connection is used for large pipelines that are placed at a certain depth level. This type of fastening is very reliable, durable, hermetic and resistant to various kinds of aggressive influences.
The detachable method also provides a certain level of reliability. Connections are made usingvarious sockets and flanges, which have additional gaskets in the kit, which, in turn, have high elasticity. This method is used when installing gravity, non-pressure pipelines. Basically, this is the installation of any waste sewer systems. This socket connection is very easy to handle, it can even be assembled and disassembled by hand. In addition, in such works, elements of a not too large size are used.
A plastic pipe of large diameter, the price of which is acceptable (for example, the cost of this product with a diameter of 1000 mm and a wall thickness of 50 mm is 7840 rubles per linear meter; if the characteristics are 2200 mm and 95 mm, respectively, then it will cost 29,920 rubles), is a competitive product in the sales market, due to its high quality indicators and ease of use. It is also significant that these materials have a good appearance compared to other pipes, such as metal.
