The most famous camouflage for a hunter can be called the Leshy or Kikimora suit. Such names of clothes are associated with the external similarity of fairy-tale characters. So why are camouflage coats so popular with hunters?

History of camouflage

Leshy and Kikimora are kind of masters of the forest. They are both human and animal. Both heroes merge with nature through their appearance, so they can hide unnoticed. Like Kikimora and Leshy, a person strives to become “his own” in nature. Therefore, he creates a camouflage coat with his own hands, which helps to hide in the space of the forest. Such robes carry a certain meaning: the hunter wants to take on the form of a fabulous creature and become part of the ancient beliefs.

Such camouflage has long been popular in the hunting environment. Fortunately, it can be made with your own hands from improvised means. Each person makes such costumes in his own way. Various materials are used to create camouflage: from scraps of fabric to grass. Of course, such a process has a significant disadvantage: laboriousness, duration of creation, a very short service life.

Kikimora and Leshy's camouflage suits are of several types, depending on the area in which the hunt will take place.

  • Forest. Brown and green colors predominate in this dress. Such attire will help to disguise yourself in the forest.
  • Desert. Here the main colors are gray-green and beige. With this suit, you can hide perfectly in the desert.
  • wormwood. It is dominated by gray and light green colors. You can't do without such a suit in the steppe, on a rocky surface.
  • Snow. The main colors in the attire are light gray and white. Such camouflage coats for hunting can disguise a hunter in a winter forest or in a snowy area.

Recommendations for creating a camouflage suit

When creating camouflage, you need to take into account that the vision of many animals is not monochrome, so a camouflage suit made by yourself must be multi-colored. In addition, you can not wash the created garment with bleach, as the animals will see a luminous spot, and naturally, the hunt will be unsuccessful.

So, it is desirable to create a camouflage coat that is as realistic in color and pattern as possible, which guarantees an excellent hunting process. If there is no way to make it yourself, then you can buy ready-made clothes. Fortunately, domestic manufacturers have created several models with different realistic images. For example, you can see the drawings "Bittern", "Polar Owl", "Woodcock".

If you need to learn how to make a camouflagewith your own hands, you need to study a lot of literature in order to achieve an amazing result. Leshy and Kikimora costumes are becoming more popular, although they are quite bulky. But they work even better than spotted suits.

Creating a camouflage coat with your own hands: the subtleties of the process

Many may need the Kikimora camouflage, but there is no time and opportunity to purchase such a robe on the eve of the hunt. In this case, you need to use improvised means.

There are 3 camouflage options:

  • jacket, pants, hat;
  • poncho cape;
  • jacket-hoodie.
  • camouflage kikimora

Of course, the simplest solution is to create a poncho that has such qualities as versatility, multifunctionality, easy handling.

Materials for creating a camouflage suit "Kikimora"

So, when considering how to make a Kikimora camouflage coat with your own hands, you need to determine what material the costume will be made of. You can take a fishing net measuring 1.5 by 3-4 meters. The cell size in this case should be 1-2.5 cm. The color of the mesh used does not matter, because camouflage will be “laid” on top of it.

Next, you will need jute thread, which is used in ordinary bags. You can purchase a spool of such a thread, but it is advisable to use 6-7 bags. Experts from this field advise choosing the second option, since the thread from the bag is softer, more elastic, thinner.

The third thing you need is dyes. Their selection is a very responsible matter. The dye must be taken such that it is suitable for cotton and synthetic fabrics. There should be several colors and shades: 2-3 shades of green, black, brown, olive, yellow.

You will also need a nylon thread 100 meters long and 1 mm thick. You need to purchase one skein. The color should be within white, brown or black shades. This thread is necessary for joining parts. You can't do without a nylon cord 25 meters long and 3-4 mm thick. It is needed to strengthen the edges of clothes and create ties.

Creating Kikimora's camouflage robe

So, all materials are ready. For an example, a process will be shown here that allows you to create a camouflage coat with your own hands in the form of a hoodie jacket.

You need to prepare patterns for the back, front, hood and sleeves. The front and back are made in the form of two identical parts. Their shape should be rectangular. Width - within 1 meter, length - from shoulder to knee. The indicated parts are sewn in such a way as to leave a hole for the head.

Since camouflage coats for hunting are not without sleeves, you need to prepare two rectangular pieces. The length of the patterns should be in the range of 60-70 cm. The width should be 40 cm. The sleeve should be spacious enough, since the camouflage coat, created by oneself, is worn over other clothes.

The hood is created from 4 parts. Would needcut 4 elements:

  • item 1 - 20 x 20cm;
  • details 2-4 - 20 x 40 cm.

Next, they need to be sewn together, as shown in the image.

In principle, the hoodie is ready. It remains to “decorate” it with colored threads.

Dyeing threads and attaching them to camouflage

First, you need to dye small sections of the threads to make sure the color is obtained. After reading the instructions, you can begin to dye the threads in dark green. This shade is the base for Kikimora and Leshy's camouflage. With this color, you need to paint 2-3 skeins obtained from bags; kapron thread and cord; tailored suit details.

After staining, everything needs to be rinsed and dried. This process takes about a day. Threads from bags should be dried away from sources of fire and direct sunlight.

After drying, you need to make bundles of 4-5 threads. They need to be folded in half and spread out for convenient work. When creating the so-called “lokhma”, you need to take into account that one thread should be about 40-55 cm long. Doubled threads can form a blurry silhouette of the shooter.

To make a camouflage coat with your own hands, you need to properly fix the prepared bundles. The first method is called "chess cage". The essence of the method is that you must first fix the threads with the base color in a checkerboard pattern. Then bundles with additional shades are fixed.

The second method involves fixing "lokhma" all at onceshades that form camouflage. You need to interweave according to the following pattern.

It is worth considering that you need to weave the threads from the bottom up.

Dangers of the hunt

Camouflage clothing, no matter how well it works in the hunt, can add its own fly in the ointment. A man dressed in a camouflage coat, whose photo can be seen in the article, will be hidden from animals and birds, as well as from his neighbors. Therefore, there is an unspoken rule: it is forbidden to shoot at a blurred target, at sound or movement, in darkness or twilight.

An experienced hunter in camouflage can disguise himself so that he is neither heard nor seen. And newcomers can be seen a mile away. Therefore, the former are at a disadvantage. Disguised, the hunter must keep an eye on the game and what is happening around. If stuffed animals are placed, then other hunters can take them for game and shoot towards the hidden person. Therefore, maximum vigilance must be exercised.

So, the costume is ready. It's time to go hunting. The main thing is vigilance and caution.
