Today it is impossible to imagine life without food. They are an integral part of our life, therefore, for their long-term and safe storage, humanity is gradually inventing more and more new containers. And despite the fact that aluminum cans are the development of past centuries, they, oddly enough, are the most suitable for storing and convenient transportation of such products. Why are they unique and special? Let's explore it in today's article.
What are they?
Probably, the shape and design of each of us are familiar from childhood: a large cylindrical steel barrel, on top of which there is a lid and neck. Similar aluminum cans can be seen in almost all farms, and they are widely used by our village grandmothers. True, the dimension of these capacitiesis significantly different. For example, on the farm it is enough to use such a 5-liter barrel, but in industry a larger capacity is used. Most often it is an aluminum can "40 liters". The average price for them is about 1.5-2 thousand rubles. Simple 5-lire containers can be purchased at almost any hardware store, and they will cost no more than 500 rubles.
Why not plastic?
Polyethylene containers are now widely used in almost all sectors of the economy, but if this area concerns products, it is important to remember the following. Plastic itself, by its properties, does not like direct rays, so if you put such a container with milk for 5-10 minutes in the sun at 30-degree heat, there is a big possibility that it will simply turn sour. Aluminum milk cans, in addition to being made of material that is absolutely not harmful to food products, have double walls, most often filled with air. These are usually models with a volume of more than 10-15 liters. There is neither direct transmission of sunlight, nor much heating at high ambient temperatures. Thus, aluminum cans are ideal for transporting perishable products.
What can be stored in them?
If you think that only milk can be stored in such containers, you are deeply mistaken. Aluminum cans are ideal for storing a range of products such as:
- sour cream;
- birch sap;
- honey;
- vegetable or sunflower oil.
Besides this, alcohol or even gasoline can be transported in such barrels. True, if the latter fell into such a can, you are unlikely to pour fresh milk into it, even if you boil such a container 10 times. This is fraught not only with food poisoning, but possibly even with chronic diseases. Therefore, use separate containers for oil products and milk.
Finally, we note that if you constantly use such a can for transporting lactic acid products, wash it periodically, even if you pour milk after sour cream. It is not necessary to use any acidic or other aggressive cleaners.
