The use of wallpaper for ceiling decoration is a wonderful alternative to painting and has long been actively used in interior decoration. This is due to the fact that it requires relatively less financial and time costs, and at the same time the result of the work looks aesthetically attractive. Wallpapering the ceiling is a great option for decorating a room. Wallpaper on the ceiling can be used not only in traditional white, but also in various other colors, with a pattern or photo printing. Their texture (smooth, embossed or embossed) will also help complement the interior. It is worth noting that such wallpapers will look spectacular on one of the walls, and it is better to make the rest plain. Also, wall decor in a small room should not be overloaded with large patterns or contrasting color combinations.
Wallpaper that will be glued to the ceiling must be durable, light and moisture resistant. For rooms where heat or sound insulation is required, it is recommended to use wallpaper on a textile basis. However, they strongly absorb odors. If, after pasting, it is planned to do painting, then it is better to use wallpapers specially designed for this purpose.
Before sticking the wallpaper on the ceiling, it must first of all be carefully prepared: remove the old finish, putty the bumps and cracks (if any), go through the “sandpaper”, and then the primer. Wallpaper glue can be used as a primer. Tip: old wallpapers are easier to remove if they are cut with a spatula and moistened with soapy water, and lime moistened with hot water with a flute is much easier to wash off the ceiling surface. The wallpaper is cut before starting work. The length of the sheets should be taken with a margin of about 5-10 cm to the final size. If wallpaper is used on the ceiling with a pattern, then it is necessary to cut it so that it matches. A more suitable wallpaper glue is indicated on the packaging of the rolls.
Next, you need to make markings for the sheets on the ceiling, and then apply glue directly to the wallpaper sheets. Apply glue correctly to the middle of the sheet, distributing it evenly along the entire length. Be especially careful to coat the corners and let the glue soak in. The ends are bent to the inside. It is worth noting that if the wallpaper is thick, then the glue is applied in two layers. If non-woven wallpaper is used on the ceiling, then the glue is applied directly to it.
Sticking is best done together. One person holds the still unglued canvas, and the second applies it to the ceiling and straightens it. When a sheet of wallpaper is glued to the surface, it is smoothed in the direction from the middle to the edges with a special brush. The next sheet is glued, focusing on the edgesprevious.
At the junction of the surface of the ceiling and the wall, the edge of the wallpaper is pressed with the non-sharp side of the scissors and slightly pulled back. This will determine the cutting line of the excess part. In places where it is planned to lead out under the lighting fixture, a cross-shaped incision is made.
After the wallpaper is pasted on the ceiling, try to avoid drafts in the room.
