A metal screed is perfect for such work. Another reason is that wood blocks will increase in volume. And in the end they will "tear" the screed.
Metal mesh for screed reinforcement
Steel wire or reinforcement meshes are used with this method. The reinforcement is laid in loaded places (for example, in a garage). It should be noted that the grids are made of VR-1 wire. Their diameter starts from two and a half and ends with six millimeters. Metal ties are installed on a hill of cement mortar.
It is highly undesirable to use gypsum mortar. The simplest, but proven way is to use a special fixture for fittings. They are made of plastic and come in many different sizes. In construction stores, they can be found under any kind of reinforcing mesh. You can install on:
- supports from pieces of broken brick;
- small and medium fragments of concrete and other improvised materials.
You can also set the grid at the same distance from the base. But this method is very complicated. After distribution, some supports may fly out, so this must be carefully monitored. A metal screed will serve as a good base. Durability and practicality have been proven for centuries.

Having done the floor screed once, you can forget about its repair forever. Because the base is strong and will withstand any load with the right work done. There are numerous ways to tie, but a metal tie will last longer than any other type.
